mmmm summer fruit
Jul. 12th, 2004 08:10 pmI did it! I did it! I finally went swimming. Yes, I know I've been saying I'm going swimming since last December, but I actually did it! It was very exciting. I even bought some spanking new goggles. That don't leak! And I'm going to try to go on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. That is the new plan.
On the way home, stopped at Top Banana and went hog wild. I didn't buy much of anything, but I bought a lot of different things. I'm sure the cashier loved ringing up 10 different things instead of a nice bag of something.
I bought: two white peaches, three pluots, a mango, an apple, a white nectarine, two Asian pears, mushrooms, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, a cucumber, garlic, baby carrots, ginger, and two baking potatoes.
Oddly, I really want fruit flavored yogurt now. If I had plain vanilla I could just chop up some fresh fruit onto it. Must make note to buy some yogurt and frozen peas (for the mushroom curry I'm planning). Oh and tomato paste.
Had a nice chat with
jeff_nw today about the job search. We agreed that it's always so much easier to have perspective when it's not about yourself. Which is where friends come in so damn handy. Yes, even if I have to take a shit entry level job, I won't be there forever. And it's high time I get back into the swing of things, right? And if I work for a good, solid company, then that's really the best start.
Also? Medical benefits. Not to be sneezed at. It's funny. I was feeling so desperate, There are days I would sell myself out for a minimum wage job, but then I see a position with a reasonable salary and it's weird--it's like that reminds me too much of how much I used to make, which while never an assload, was a decent wage for my education/background. Starting over sucks. But I have to remember that I hated my job and dreaded every morning. I did all this to work toward not being miserable.
No one said it was going to be easy.
