tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot
Jul. 23rd, 2004 08:03 pmAhhhhhhhh, too hot. Hobbes and I have spent a large chunk of the day fighting each other for the coolest part of shade in the flat. We sprawled out near my laundry closet, lolling on the carpet savannah and yawning.
Today was interesting. Just when I'm ready to throw in the Towel of Optimism, something nice comes my way. Had a quick phone interview for some contract web work. Pay's okay and it would keep me occupied for at least three weeks. And for once it seems being overqualified won't kick me out of the running. Not only that, but the hours are flexible enough that if I also manage to get full-time work, I could continue the full run of contract work and make a little extra money. It sounds like I have a pretty good shot at this. Woo hoo.
Through a random act of kindness, also began pursuit of another contract lead. It's intriguing but too early to really know anything. Here's hoping.
Braved the heat and made a run to Fred Meyer to buy a plant stand, citronella candles and 2-part epoxy to repair my granite table. I think, should this actually work, that it'll make a really nice balcony setup. Nothing nicer than having meals outside on warm summer nights. It's drying now out there. I'm curious to see if it'll actually work, or just crumble when I test it.
My parents get in tonight and head straight to Port Orchard. I really need to straighten up my flat before their visit tomorrow. Which is why I should rejoice that my plans for tonight were cancelled. Was supposed to go to dinner with Judy & Co, but Judy's unfortunately had a horrid day and wants nothing more than to lie down with a cold rag on her head. Jeff's done something foolish again but won't apologize, so now Ellie is furious. And Jeanne needs to spend quality time with her dog, who's going through separation anxiety since her move.
I should be glad for the extra time, as I wasn't overwhelmed with joy at coming home at 11 and finishing cleaning, but somehow Moroccan food and belly dancing seemed more exciting than vacuuming and mopping. Never mind, Soprano's pizza is on the way and I have a pile of things to watch when I'm done tidying up.
