crime & punishment
Oct. 31st, 2004 11:51 pmHuh. Shit Is Going Down outside my window.
Heard some angry noises. Figured it was trick-or-treaters being rowdy. But it kept happening. And getting louder. Finally decided to peek outside the window and you know, maybe call the police because it was getting ridiculous and if drunk people were brawling, better to have it broken up before someone ended up bleeding.
There were already two cop cars outside. A third one pulled up shortly after. And there was a guy splayed across the hood of one of the cars, with an officer holding him down. It was kind of weird. The holding down thing just went on forever. Not to be all fascist or anything, but like if someone needs to be held down, wouldn't you want to cuff him and shove him in the backseat so he's not a threat? Apparently they should have, because the arguments continued with held-down guy and the bystanders. I guess the holding-down officer slacked a bit, cause the guy lunged for the bystanding woman and was pounced by 3 cops who finally cuffed him and manhandled him into the backseat. I think one of the officers was either bit or cut, because he bandaged himself up while the other guys wrapped things up. Then they all drove off.
High times in Ballard.
And now a fire engine is outside. It's like a good 15-20 minutes since the last police car drove off, so I don't know if this is related or not.
Surreal.
