Note to self: next time, go to the Post Office and not the Sip N Ship. The people at the Sip N Ship are really nice, but omfg it takes approximately an hour to get anything done there. No, literally. I had four simple packages to mail. I was nice. I was patient, and as slow as they were, they seemed to be doing the best they could. Next time --post office. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore and left them my credit card and went off to take my drug test, which was just down the street.

I've never had a strong position on drug testing. It's one of those things that just doesn't really affect my life and I just don't care enough to get worked up about it. So that was my frame of my mind going into it. I went to the lab at Swedish and the whole process took maybe 10 minutes. A woman led me to the back of the lab and asked me to open the sample kit. I went into the bathroom where I was instructed to fill the cup to the labeled line, and not to flush the toilet or wash my hands. Eww. You know, I'm sure they have very specific reasons for those things, but I'm surprised they let me take in my purse. I mean, what if I had someone else's pee in a jar or something? I came out, she made me verify that the code on the sample jar matched my paperwork and that was that. I was allowed to go to a different area to wash my hands. Anyhow. It wasn't a big deal, but it was strangely unpleasant.

Then, in spite of the overwhelming urge to come home and relax, I made myself deal with the emissions stuff.

It's different here than in California. In California, you go to any local repair shop and they do a smog test for you and give you a piece of paper that you eventually send off with your renewal stuff. Here, you have to go to a state emissions testing facility. It looked a little like the Canadian border. Little kiosks set up, and you drive up to the lady, she asks you for stuff, you give her $15 and then you move up to some guy who does a quick test on your car. Not that long really, but it was way the fuck up on Aurora. But it's done, I passed, hallelujah. It's too late to deal with going to the DOL, so I'm just going to mail my thing in. Or maybe I'll be good and stop off on my way home from work tomorrow.

I didn't go grocery shopping, but have decided it's okay because I actually have good healthy food in the fridge. Enough to last a few days, so I can go grocery shopping later on this week.

It's also damn cold now, but after getting my Seattle City Lights bill, I'm unwilling to crank up the heat.

Hobbes has an opinion. His opinion is that I should feed him now. But he loves me. So much. I just need to feed him now.
