I can't believe it's January 2nd already. Yesterday passed so quickly in a daze of television and quietude.

I woke up from the first set of new-job nightmares. I always have performance-anxiety and I had a very detailed dream about my first day of work at my new company. And it was random. It started today, Saturday. And I hadn't enough time to prepare. I was supposed to read the instructions for configuring and using Eudora. So I sat in this room, with everyone else, reading this manual with tiny print. Half the day went by and my boss came to talk to me. Turns out, I'd wasted the day. She'd only wanted me to data-entry the manual into RoboHelp. She wasn't mean about it, but I felt so stupid.

Also, the day had started with Jeff showing me to the bathroom in this labyrinth of cubicles and then he vanished for the rest of the day, but the pregnant woman from my current job showed up because she was also hired.

Dreams are weird.

Gleeful today because I figured out what the problem was with all the Lost files I'd downloaded. I'd gotten 3 episodes in when a codec problem was causing the remaining episodes to render shakily. It was maddening. The Joan of Arcadia files were fine, so I thought there was a problem with the Lost files themselves, but when some West Wing files showed the same problem, I decided to investigate a bit more. Got the proper Xvid codec and yay, all the episodes are working fine now.

Anyhow back to Lost. I need to watch all 11 episodes before Wednesday's new episode. I really like it so far. And it's just really intriguing the way they've chosen to reveal all the backstories. It's nice to watch something so different.

Also in a fit of stubbornness I decided to try West Wing again. I'd stopped early season 5 because it was so, well, fucking dismal. But I caught up with all the recaps on TWoP last week and have started watching season 6. I have eight episodes to go before Wednesday's new episode. I like Jimmy Smits a lot, so I'm curious to see his role.

I worshipped the first two seasons of this show, but I'm really disappointed with what they've done to these once beloved characters. Especially all the ethnic smears and snottiness. What. The. Fuck. Regardless, it was hard to watch Leo have a heart attack and it just makes me sad to think of how great this show once was. Regardless. Wanting to catch up to it and see what they've done. I heard there had been some improvements, so we'll see.
