Mmmm last night was lovely.

Went over to Judy & John's around 4:30pm. We cooked all manner of appetizers (shrimp dip and toast things, spinach balls, latkes, and our pride and joy: mini corn dogs) and soup (onion/garlic cream) and salad (chicken Caesar which we ended up too full to eat). Watched A Christmas Story ad nauseum on TNT. Played my shiny new Trivial Pursuit where I won. Then John, piqued and I think a little startled, stood up and challenged me to a rematch. Where I whooped his butt again. Ahhh, that was fun. I knew watching the LotR:FotR:EE and LotR:TTT:EE repeatedly would have some side benefit.

We opened presents, and had long discussions on Sandman, and graphic novels in general and movies, and other books. They really are the top of my favorite people to spend time with.

Drove home, read maybe a paragraph of The Hobbit and fell asleep. Slept in peacefully this morning and have woken up in time to watch Celebrity Poker with the West Wing crew. Judy and John love Celebrity Poker and we're thinking of starting up a poker night with penny bets with a group of friends.

Today will be a day of sloth and joy. Ooo maybe I'll start working on the quilted potholders for Ellie.

Have spent entire day with feet up on coffee table, watching Trading Spaces and snuggling with Hobbes.

Highlights:

- Doug is such a bitchy monkey. I love him.
- Finally more Vern! Yay!
- Hilde Lichtenstein's her entire head onto some unfortunate people's wall.
- Frank designs an attractive kitchen, then schmutz's it up with his crappy craft-writing kitsch.
- A show featuring two sets of homeowners who are terrified by feet. Yes. Feet. So naturally Doug designs a room where he will be painting a giant foot on the wall of the homeowner who is most traumatized by them. Who I don't feel that sorry for because they have this gorgeous elegant room and I have no idea why they're going on this show when they could have run the risk of Hilde gluing hay to the wall or stapling plastic flowers everywhere.

Also, I have Honey Nut Chex and nonfat milk.

Life? Is gooooood.
