Sometime in the night, huge buckets of snow fell in Seattle. It's unreal outside. It looks like pictures my friends send me from the midwest and east. People are sledding outside my window and a guy with snow hat and skis just went by.

[livejournal.com profile] seattle is busy today, everyone snapping shots of the surreal sights of snow.

When I woke up, I blearily turned the blinds, caught a glimpse of the magical whiteness, shrieked and nearly ripped the damn thing off the window in my haste. Proceeded to squeal and shout and call home and Netmeeting so I could point the camera outside and share the joy.

Mercifully UW has cancelled classes and I won't have to go out and piss off everyone around me on the road by driving 14mph. I'm from California. We don't have weather!

Since about 11am, this one bus has been stuck outside my window. Eventually everyone de-bussed and threw snowballs and ran around. Now I see a second bus has pulled up and I fear for its fate, as well. Oh good, it's managed to get up the slight hill.

Last night was really rough, so this has been a pleasant awakening. Was so miserably congested and cough-y and generally in the suck, that I couldn't get comfortable and sleep. Around 4am I irritably pulled off my polar fleece pants, and that was apparently the magical key, because I finally fell asleep.

I wish I had a real camera so I could actually take some better shots. Dying for work to end because I am going to brave the outside world and at least make/throw one proper snowball.

Just got back from a glorious walk. Bundled up (though wish had hat) until I felt like the little brother in A Christmas Story and trundled on out. It was simply gorgeous! Yes, I know. It's just snow and you'd think I'd never seen it before in my life, but that's kind of how I feel. I've never lived anywhere it's snowed (except Chicago and that doesn't count because I was a drooling infant).

Made snowballs; threw them randomly. Chatted with this lovely woman and her neighbor's dog, Susie. Susie is skittish about strangers, so the conversation was short lived, but as all Seattle-ites apparently do, we quickly discussed the Winter of 96.

Walked up and around 23rd until I did a classic banana peel slip-and-fall, and because it was like falling into a tub of non-sticky-cold-cotton-candy, I avoided a concussion, guffawed, got up and walked on. It was starting to snow heavier so I eventually decided to come home.

That bus that's been there all day has finally been rescued!

Checked mail and found that Season Six X-files are HERE! I thought I'd screwed up and had them sent to my old address in LA. But not so!! Tonight I will be watching X-files and completely freaking myself out! Yay!

I've ordered a meatball grinder from Soprano's Pizza who are still somehow managing to deliver food. I brought up the extra bottles of water from the car since I'm constantly parched due to the Sudafed (which I didn't really need, and thus didn't take today!). I'm not as congested, hyper as a four year old and didn't kill Hobbes when I accidentally sat on him because he'd burrowed under the duvet!

Wow. Today? Is a good day.
