Well, I figured out what I forgot to backup: my fucking address book. Arrrrrrrrgh!

Officially, I don't have anyone's email address anymore. Blah. Though, hrm, all is not lost. I must have a backup on disc from before (when I forgot to backup something else instead). Will check tomorrow.

Also, I can't seem to find my damn Opera registration information. As much of a spazz as I am, I'm fairly meticulous/anal about this sort of thing. I have one folder where I stick all my software keys and it's not there. I've reformatted at least once before, and thus saved it. Opera's auto-email-lost-registration thingie is showing me no love. I'm going mad. I want the accursed ad-banner to go AWAY.

And I'm not sure if it's from swaning around in shorts/tee all day today or my Adventures in Arctic Greenlake on Monday, but I think I'm coming down with a cold or something, because my throat is itchy. With all my pissing and moaning about the weather this winter, I've been vigilant about staying swaddled like a baby, but it was sunny and I just lost my head. Between catching a cold, straining my knee and torquing my back, I'm a complete mess. Thankfully (due to my swallowing ten billion Ibuprofen horse pills), my back is better. AND the back of my knees are reallyreally smooth.

Since it's a Friday night and I have a busy, early Saturday morning ahead of me, naturally I'm a total insomniac tonight.

Just. Kill. Me. Now.

As socially/environmentally conscious as I'd like to be, it's clear I'll whore myself out at $6.50 to sleep in an extra hour and drive instead of taking the bus.

In exciting news, I found a new skin for QCD that I lurrrve. It's called Minima. And it is mine.

Also. Updates? Are the DEVIL. I was upgrading some security patches and made the rather reckless decision of upgrading some hardware drivers. Why? I have no freaking idea. I've upgraded the Nvidia drivers before without wreaking havoc, so I just decided to do all of them. No, I really don't know what I was thinking. Anyhow. Video seemingly works fine; Audio works fine. Hobbes was looking cute, so I decided to test out Netmeeting/WebCam and .... enh? Everything was mushed up weirdly. It's not that it didn't work, it's just that it was a funhouse mirror and dog slow. That was not ok. I get a pathetic amount of joy out of that thing, and its reception has been amazingly clear. It's like having my own tv show when I netmeeting with friends and I didn't want to look like a squashed version of myself, thankyouverymuch. After a frantic few minutes trying to decide if my face was just really bloated and deformed, I figured out that it was an updated Intel driver for the webcam. Frantically removed it, rebooted and sacrificed a goat in the hopes that the original would be restored. Merciful Zeus. It was. My face was squashed no longer. And if I didn't look so tired and crappy with my hair sticking straight out in 9 different directions, I'd even snap a photo and share.

Oh dear god. Should really go read more Alice in Wonderland. That'll drive me to sleep in no time. Have to read like half the book tomorrow now, as have kept putting it off.

Mmmk bye.

What a great day. Ok, so 8am wasn't the best part of it, but I made it to class on time and grabbed my favorite terminal. I leaned over during a lull in class and asked Jeff if he was going to the Don't Amend Protest and he was; we agreed to go together.

Class was fine. I'm a little bummed at the pace. It seems we have to go through an hour and a half of instruction, when the easiest thing would be to turn us loose with the various lessons in the book with maybe a brief overview/summary; leaving the instructor available to walk around helping those in need. Many people in class are clearly traumatized by software and we seem to spend a lot of time with Jan saying, "Yes, we'll get to that. No, that's ok. Yes, there is more than one way to do this." so it just drags on and on. I know in-class questions are generally a good thing because other people may have these same questions, but since they're never questions I have, it's a little boring (not that I always have the answer, but they don't strike me as relevant issues). But, enh, whatever.

After class Jeff and I headed over to Westlake Park and joined the throng of people already assembled under the drizzling sky. All told, by the end, I think there were about 400-500 people there. The bad thing about it was the sound system. It was very hard to hear. But everything else was nice. Some of Jeff's friends joined us and we listened to speakers from the ACLU, representatives from various politicians as well as some politicians themselves. Thank you former Gov. Mike Lowry, if for nothing else, for speaking LOUDLY AND CLEARLY. There were tons of hilarious signs. One of my favorites was a large picture of Dubya, which proclaimed: "Keeping our Queer Eye on the Stupid Guy." *snerk*

Other signs:

"I love her, she loves me, let us be a family" (I wanted to start skipping feverishly)
"Marriage is a HUMAN right, not a HETEROSEXUAL one"
"Stop legislating discrimination and bigotry"
"Separate is NOT equal"
"Equal Means ME TOO!"
"25 Years Together; We Deserve to Tie the Knot!"
"$1.5 Billion for Neil Bush's Divorce!"

and another great picture of Bush looking befuddled, "Let's see. How can I distract voters from this troubling Iraq mess?"

Trying to decide between a LotR marathon or a Sex in the City marathon. Anything to wrench me away from the tractor beams of VH1 trash tv. Wow isn't Cher like 10,000 years old? Jesus.

Must. Stop. Watching.

Also restraining self from going out and buying all the chocolate in the land and consuming in a glutinous fit.

I'm bored. Have no plans for the evening and will possibly be posting a lot. My apologies in advance.

Wow. I had no idea Ed Norton was such a slut. Courtney Love? Gah!

And does it seem like Liz Hurley went from being classy and beautiful to a skanky ho? I don't understand her fashion choices anymore.

Really, I'll stop soon. Very soon.
