I have been awake since 8:40am. *startled*

I went to bed relatively early because Judy and I were going swimming and I thought it rude to drown. I got the perfect amount of sleep. It's so weird to wake up and not be groggy and not have overslept after going to bed too late. Huh. Not that this motivates me to change my evil ways.

I had a lovely chat with my favorite aunt and we babbled about all kinds of things. She was excited because she just found my duputa. When my cousin got married last August, I had this outfit I was excited about wearing, but one piece of it, the duputa (or veil) went missing. It's an elaborate peach chiffon dealie that was my mother's and we'd just had a new tunic/pants made for me. So I couldn't wear it then, but I'm relieved it's found.

I need to plan my damn trip to LA for Spring Break already. I'm also going to squeeze in a weekend with Stace in San Diego. Ack. I hope CS will let me rework my schedule for the week before and after so I can take that week off. Working through my last break sucked.

Anyhow, I called O in a fit of fraternal affection and we might have lunch on Thursday!

Judy and I aren't going swimming. Part of it was because I was wussing out. I hadn't seen the inside of my apartment in daylight for some time and was apprehensive about my over packed day, and it turns out the pool doesn't open until 11am anyway, and I'd be late for lunch with Debbie. We might go next Saturday *fingers crossed*

I was waffling on whether I wanted to go to the Oscar party. It's the night after Jeff and Ellie's Frathouse Tiki party and I think two elaborate parties in one weekend would completely freak me out. But Judy really wants me to meet her friend Meghan and it's a sit down dinner--and we're dressing up (I knew I should have bought a Vera Wang instead of paying rent). So I'm going. Judy is bringing some Valium to sedate us if LotR doesn't win.

We're also trying to squeeze in 6 million movies before Oscar Sunday. I am determined to see M&C, Mystic River and Monster at least before then. I wish I had time to go see RotK again.

Now to squeeze in some household chores. This having a life thing? It doesn't suck.

Well that was funny. As I raced out of my parking garage, Debbie called. She just woke up. International travel will seriously sock it out of you. She was very sorry to cancel, but I can completely understand. Told her to go back to bed and I'd see her tonight at bookclub. What's funny is that my day had sort of pivoted around our lunch. I didn't swim because 11am was too late to swim and meet her. I declined an invite to have lunch with Judy and Meghan. By the time Debbie cancelled, it was too late to swing over to meet up with Judy.

Huh. As much as I was looking forward to lunch, it's worked out nicely to have the afternoon to myself. I finally managed to go grocery shopping. I have to eat in more next week. As much as I like eating out, it is bad for both wallet and waistline. So I stopped off at QFC and bought tons of salad things and fruits and some super-high-fiber wheat tortillas. 8 grams of fiber, baby. Woo! I also bought some Near East Taboule mix and am very excited about assembling the Greek Salad version of it, but am sad that it must chill overnight. I want it NOW!

So I'm going to make an enormous spinach salad, watch Truly, Madly, Deeply and snog my darling kitty who's just woken up from his mid-afternoon nap.

Bookclub was wonderful. We spent 10 minutes talking about Angels & Demons and kept tangenting off to other things. Largely LotR. We talked Debbie into watching Mystic River with us Friday night and David, who's seen it, will join us after for dessert and discussion.

Got home, considered dinner options and called Stace to ask if I should bake my potato at 350 or 400. Somehow this question led to a 3 hour phone conversation about everything under the sun. Topics included: Joaquin, Colin and the hotness of each; My upcoming trip to LA/SD; Disney 's penchant for parenticide; Director's commentaries on dvds; And much, much more. We cheerfully hung up around 9:45. I had just changed into pjs and was just going through email when a merciful cosmic flash struck me:

JEFF AND ELLIE. AIRPORT. UM--NOW!

I had completely forgotten their flight was landing in 20 minutes. Holy fucking shit.

I threw on a hoodie and ran out the door. Many traffic violations later, I was almost there when Ellie called me. They still had to ride the monorail and were 10 minutes away. No problem. I don't think I was more than 5 minutes late. Whew.

The best part of the adventure home: Jeff was completely drunk. Slurring, booming, joyful voice and all. It was hysterical. We had the windows rolled down and were commenting on the weather when Jeff turned to me and said, "It's quite temperate." For some reason, this was damn funny. They were in first class where the wine flowed like water. The scotch flowed like water, too, apparently. Ellie was horrified because Jeff and the fellow merry-man sitting next to him were SHUSHED by the flight attendant when they were going through the flight safety crap. Oh. The. Shame. I have never seen Jeff talk so much. Normally he's a very quiet and laid back guy. This was an exciting preview for the Tiki Party.

Sunday nights are always so sad because you know you have to work the next morning, just as you've gotten into the swing of playing and having fun. Now I'm completely wired from the drive and don't want to go to sleep. Wah!
