Is it wrong that I kind of want a Swatch Bunnysutra watch?

I mean, not that I'd ever wear it. But I just kinda want it.

Maaaaaaaaan. I'm tired.

Survived work. It was busy at least, which is good. Then had to race to meet [livejournal.com profile] devinluvsrussia for our Tuesday adventures around Greenlake. We've been bad the last few Tuesdays and I feel out of shape. Going for an encore on Thursday cause if I'm going to do the Danksin thing this summer, I need to work myself a bit.

Best moment was when an especially frisky Dev spied a particularly hot guy. We briefly stalked him so that I too could behold the hotness. He walked to the edge of the lake and sat down. So we stealthily crept up behind him.

Dev: Let's push him in so we can see how he looks all wet!!
Me: I'm going to go ask him to turn around so I can see his damn face already.
Dev: Are you really? *horrified curiosity*
Me: Hah! Noooooooo.

Tempting though, huh?

Unfortunately he was on his cell phone, and it hid half his damn face. *sulk*

I was very excited to wear my new red shoes. Less excited now to be the proud owner of some spanking fresh blisters. Was sposed to go to the post office (*whine*) and grocery store, but just needed to come home and take a shower and drink 800 gallons of water.

Will go to post office tomorrow. I will. No, really. I have to. Also grocery store. Bleh.

Must shower now and then work on the bleeding style guide. [livejournal.com profile] jeff_nw was so cute last night. Called me in a panic about how much crap we have left to do this quarter with little or no guidance from our instructors. I think it's going to be fine. I also refuse to think about it. Or my resume. Or upcoming job search. Or anything unpleasant. Yay for denial! Fire bad, tree pretty about sums up my mental capacity.

We also have to go to a stupid STC dinner thing on Friday, which neither one of us is looking forward to. But tis a necessary evil. Wah. And we'll have each other and our snark to get us through the night.

ahhhhhh

You know. I'd totally forgotten how fucking funny first season Friends is.

Watching Joey teach Ross how to talk dirty is fucking comedic genius. Hee!

Guess what! Guess what!!

So, when I first moved up here, my parents came to visit. They were very sad that I'd moved away and to compensate, bought me $9 million worth of plants. Including a jasmine plant.

All winter it's been green, but obviously no buds or bloom. I noticed yesterday that there were a few fledgling buds. I just walked into the kitchen, and my living room is full of the scent of jasmine!

Jasmine was my dadi's (paternal grandmother) favorite flower. My happiest memories of Pakistan include picking flowers from the thick growth of jasmine bushes outside my grandparent's house. I would string them into garlands for my dadi's hair. Smelling them tonight brings back such happy memories.

I was very close to my grandmother and lucky enough to have her live with us for most of my teen life. She was a wonderful woman. Very patient and loving. She never had a harsh word for anyone. She always encouraged us to stay close as a family. To tolerate each other's weaknesses and to be as good as we could be.

I miss her.

I was apparently a handful as a child and my aunt was telling me that during my visits to Pakistan, I would love to play with her carefully arranged dresser. Moving pretty bottles around, dumping powder everywhere. One night after my parents, brothers and I had left to come back to America, my aunt found my dadi sitting sadly at her dresser. When asked what was wrong, she said, "It's not right. Everything's arranged. There's no mess."
