morning. huh.
Jan. 29th, 2005 09:51 amDespite the fact that yesterday was a long day. Despite the fact that last night was a long night. I am wide awake. I am so excited for this cleaning woman to get here, I may die.
My big fear is that she's going to walk in, be completely horrified, and politely tell me that she doesn't deal with this level of messy. Eeek. Oh speaking of, I should take some before shots. Or maybe she won't show up and I'll be unspeakably depressed.
Yesterday at work was a bit crazy. Walked in and found ten billion emails about the portion of the website I've been working on. I was still waiting for a review from the content-guy. We worked through that and the beginning part of the day went by so fast that when Jeff stopped by my office I just thought he was coming by to say hi, but it was lunch time. We took a break and it was back to work. But then, the day just kind of disintegrated. All my major projects were on hold sorta. And we were both super antsy to be done with the day.
We were supposed to go see Jared Diamond speak about his new book ("Collapse") at Town Hall, but apparently all of Seattle had the same idea. Backing up a bit. We first went to dinner at Palomino where Jeff grabbed the bill in a very calm, and might I add, manly way. It was very sweet. Though I regretted ordering the filet mignon I thought I was going to be paying for myself.
We walked to Town Hall and Sarah ran up behind us, and pointed out that the line to get in wrapped around several blocks. D'oh. Very disappointing. The three of us went out for coffee instead and I realized how tired I was. Regardless, I was gleeful that Sarah agreed to come over with X-files. We continued our viewing of Season 7 and inevitable cooing at Mulder and Scully.
Me: *sitting up to ogle Ms. Afterglow* Dear. God.
Sarah: You need a hooker.
Me: *dying of laughter*
Anyyyyyyyyhow. Sarah left a little after 2a.m. and I managed to stay awake for the entire disc, so I was proud. Also, because Sarah is the coolest, she single-handedly took out the Christmas tree on her way to her car. My gratitude can not be expressed in mere words.
So for the next hour I need to prep clean for this poor woman who is coming to save me from my insanely messy apartment.
That's not so much to do, but I should get started.
Happy Saturday!

- start laundry
- collect clutter into piles to deal with as needed

omg happiness
Jan. 29th, 2005 11:44 pmShe came. She saw. She conquered!
Maribel rules. She was so nice and thorough. Since I couldn't spend $1000 on house cleaning, we agreed to tackle things slowly. But I mean, she reorganized my kitchen and bathroom. She's cleaned everything except the few areas I wouldn't let her clean (to her eternal sadness), like my desk and bookshelves.
Everything smells clean and nice and happy. All the trash is tossed. The floors are immaculate. Well, except for a few kitty puke-spots on the carpet that I need to spot treat tomorrow. My bed is even made except for the duvet cover which I've developed a sort of issue with.
I busted my ass all morning and the 6 boxes next to my desk were finally dealt with. My desk is still covered with books but I plan to come home tonight and organize my shelves. And I need to buy a filing cabinet which I am geekily excited about.
She was so funny. She left saying that she felt bad because she wasn't able to do a really complete job, but she understands that I can only spend so much on this (her price is $25/hr and that adds up pretty fast). So she's going to come back in a month and we'll deal with the blinds and the closets next time.
Must send thank you note to Meghan for recommending her.
Omg my place is so clean and happy and just...omg YAY! *shrieks*
Sarah's coming over now to pick me up for movie/dinner with Judy & Co. Then we're going to hang out here. And tomorrow Sarah is going to come with me to Swanson's Nursery and we're going to pick out some winter-friendly plants for my balcony garden and clean up that area. And possibly my car. If I have any energy left, I'm going to deal with my two hall closets. Linen and coat because they need reorganizing, too!
My life runs so much better when my flat is tidy. I can't believe I let it lapse into such a mess for so long!
Things I need to buy:
cd organizer
more bookshelves, though no idea where to put them
lamp for living room
1 inch quiche pan
And there was something else, but I can't remember it now *frown*
And I forgot to post this earlier. Loved Sideways. Sarah loathed it, as predicted. Indian food was fabulous. Great to see everyone tonight. And we came back to my place to watch some really weird X-files episodes. And now I am so so so tired that I need to go fall into bed.
