I'm so weirdly lethargic, dammit. I got plenty of sleep. Have been eating plenty of fruit and vegetables. What. The. Fuck? Anyhow.

We had a chili-thon at work today. I brought in the Vegetarian Chili from Cooking Light that has served me well on many an occasion. As I was making it last night, I reached for the Old Bay Seasonings tin, dumped in the required teaspoon, stirred it in, and went back to chopping tomatoes. A few minutes later, I reached for the chili powder and found my tin of Old Bay Seasonings. I looked down at the first tin and, behold—Hungarian Sweet Paprika. Sigh. The recipe doesn't call for any paprika, but it didn't seem to hurt it much. I do think I put in too many tomatoes, because it was a bit thinner than I like. SO frustrating. I've made this recipe about 20 times now, and I've never screwed it up before. Oh well. I figured I couldn't just bring it in the pot, because there's no stove at work, so I ladled it into my largest tupperware.

When I got to work, I saw that my coworkers had better ideas, and they'd brought these wonderful crockpots. Great idea, no? Next time.

Jeff had to run upstairs for a meeting for our company's Gay & Lesbian group, so he left me a note to save him some chili and took off. I hung out in the lunch room chatting with people I don't normally interact with. I just want to say that there are a lot of genuinely nice people here. It was fun! We ate each other's chili and cornbread, someone had brought shredded cheddar. It was really nice. Then I scurried back to my office and Jeff eventually joined me with the plate I'd set aside for him.

In other news, I'm almost done with this case study. I feel, well, a little proud. It's the first one my company has done, and I'm getting an authorship spot, which I didn't expect. And my boss likes it, and it was nice to work on something that was more technical. My boss, Lisa, came into my office when Jeff and I were finishing lunch and called it a "momentous occasion" because apparently they've been trying to get one of these done for a couple of years. So, yay!

I was really worried when I started it, but it's been a great experience and has challenged my writing skills exactly as I hoped it would.

Speaking of which, I need to go finish up this (hopefully) final draft.
