Maybe because it's Friday. Maybe because my legs are very smooth. Maybe because I've hit the right amount of caffeine, but I am super bouncy.
Got up, got ready to leave for work. I've put together this surprise for Jeff who better not be reading my LJ right now! (He usually catches up on weekends, so I think it's safe.)
He and his old college friend Nimi are going to Sequim this weekend and are staying in the same cottage that Sarah and I did. And I am so vicariously excited for them. They'll get to catch up! And they both could use the R&R! So I'm really happy for them! So I put together a welcome-basket for them. But I'm not insane enough to drive it out there, and will give it to Jeff this evening. I didn't want to sabotage Jeff's diet, so it doesn't have the high-end gourmet shit I would have liked to stock it with. But it's got a nice Rioja (we both love Spanish wine) and some soy crisps, and fruit, and I baked some No Pudge brownies, and there's dried apricots, and sugar-free life savers, and coffee and tea, and just two decadent nuggets of Franz chocolates. It was really fun to do. And I even bought cellophane to wrap the whole thing in, and I ultimately found a nice ribbon to tie around it (which is not pictured here).
( Wanna see? Wanna see? )I taunted him this morning, telling him I have something for him in my car, and he reacted perfectly with greedy curiosity. I love him. He never disappoints me with nonchalance. Of course now I'm dying to give it to him but need to wait until after work when we go down to the parking garage.
Then the morning went by superfast, and I had a great one-on-one with my boss. I have some cool projects coming up, and since she was leaving early, she took the time to wish me well on the triathlon and said she'd be thinking of me on Sunday. Isn't that sweet? And we also talked briefly about hair care, which cracks me up. She has the nicest hair and I blurted out, "How on earth do you keep your hair so nice, mine is always a frazzled mess." She happily did not respond like I was a lunatic, but talked about how she needed a cut, and apparently she uses a hair iron. It's so silky and straight, I couldn't understand how she did it.
Jeff and I ran errands at lunch. He needed to get a set of keys made (and unfortunately due to a misunderstanding, he thought he needed to have the set made for me, but I already have a set...doh). We ran to his house to test the keys where Jeff had to physically carry me out because I couldn't stop pouncing on Brutus and Buffy and cooing at them. I can't wait to play with them Saturday night! And then we ate at Ali Baba's on Broadway, which was excellent. We had to rush to get back, because Jeff had a 1pm meeting.
And this day is moving so fast! I got my packages from Amazon, so I now finally own a cordless phone and if you are someone with my home number, there's an actual chance that I will answer my home line when you call instead of forcing you to call my cell and track me down in my palatial 500-sqft apartment.
I also bought another copy of Jekyll & Hyde (the concept album) so this surely means I'll find the set I lost as soon as I get home. Jeff and I have been cooing over Linda Eder's voice, so I loaned him that for the weekend because he needs to hear it RIGHTNOW.
So today is a very happy day. Plus I get to have dinner with Sarah's family (*love*) and even though the triathlon is on Sunday (lalalalala) I'm not going to get hysterical until I actually have to and will continue to enjoy this bubble of giddy happiness!
Here's an adorable picture of Hobbsie, too! He's in his basket. Which I can't get over how much he loves it. He spends half the night in there, and the other half with me.

Hope everyone is having as perky a Friday as I am!
