Since all I do these days is spend money, I decided to sneak in Buffy: The Chosen Collection in with things like paint and towels. Pretty soon here I'm going to install a spending moratorium, and save up for things for awhile before buying, but I figured I could get that in under the wire while I was being so damn devil-may-care with my finances.

I had it shipped directly to Stace in San Diego (thus avoiding sales tax, muhahahaha) as she's just starting to watch the series for the first time now. This way she doesn't have to get it in dribbles from Netflix and it's not like I was going to be able to sit and watch it properly for awhile anyway.

And this way, I'll probably watch it once I have the Plasma Tv of Joy. Which I'm so excited about, but intimated by. I hate researching for stuff like that (normally I make Sarah do it and explain it to me in small words). All the various models and reviews and reading CNET and gah. I know, my life is so hard. But it's such a big purchase, I want to make sure it's good, and not overpriced, and a reliable brand, and yes I'm going to get the extended warranty, and I don't want to buy it and find out there's this other model, much cheaper, with better picture. I also don't want to buy the top model with all kinds of bells and whistles and shit that I'm not going to care about and a tv with the best resolution known to man--but where I can't really tell the difference between it and the model that is $1000 cheaper.

I should really move on that, too. Because I know my dad would be so happy to see it here, when he gets here in two weeks.

I feel quite studly. I ripped off the hideous metal mini-blinds from the office. Rawr. It was a pain in the ass, as I couldn't figure it out at first, but eventually saw that this little bit of metal needed bending. They are off. I'm going to hang sheets over the French doors and close them for some privacy tonight and try to motivate myself to get up to Home Depot or Linens N Things tomorrow after work. After-work errands, especially ones Far Far Away are hard, but I really don't like leaving that side window exposed. I need to remember to measure the height of the window to pick out curtains. But at the very least, if I can get some nicer blinds up, the curtains can wait. Picking out curtains is one of the most difficult things known to man, I'm not sure why that is. It wasn't so bad for the living room, because the cream walls in there are neutral enough that anything could have gone, but with the blue in the office and red in the bedroom, I'm not sure what I want to do.

I got up early and started hauling furniture and boxes out of the office this morning and had the liquid sandpaper applied before Jeff got here. Oh, Jeff. Wonderful, wonderful Jeff. I have no idea what I'd do without him. He not only brought me the cable outlet plates from Restoration Hardware that I kept forgetting, but he drove me to South Center Dania and picked up the heaviest boxes in the world. For my two moderately sized shelves, it requires two packages each of incredibly heavy packaging. There's no way I could have done that alone, or in my car, as the loopy saleswoman had suggested. (They come unassembled.) It was also fun wandering around Dania with Jeff, looking at potential furniture pieces for his glorious new house.

We stopped for a late lunch and then he helped me lug those monstrous boxes home.

I also bought two more throw pillows. One in sky blue, the other in russet orange. It's bizarre. For years I've yearned for pillows but refused to buy them because ...they seemed like such a needless expense. I didn't need them. It's not like any of my stuff was nice enough to bear them. So I never bought them. And now I have the oddest sense of glee in finally being allowed (by myself) to buy them. It was also very exciting to show off the place with the new curtains. Jeff reassured me that my trim-painting job is not utter crap and (with the exception of a few minor spots that I plan on touching up) that unless one was willing to go to absurd lengths, it was unlikely that I could have done better with the trim in the condition it is and the mild texturing on the walls. That made me feel so much better.

In adorable news, Jeff has developed some great affection for my antique-y dresser that I've said I'd be happy to give him once I buy new bedroom furniture. He possessively stroked it and cooed at it. It suits the style of his new house perfectly, so I'm glad it'll go to a good and happy home. With a studly Italian man who will murmur lovingly to it.

Every day I think I'll be able to set up my desk, I find there's something else I've forgotten. So now since I don't have the window treatments together, I can't place my desk under the window. This desk is such an enormous creature, and absurdly heavy. I can't assemble it alone (two people are required to lift and place the top onto the framework). And once assembled, it's a complete nuisance to move, but despite weighing a ton, is sensitive enough that you can't stand on it, or even place a foot on it for balance, I wouldn't trust it. And is wide enough that I don't think I could reach across it on a stepladder. Hrm. There's no point in putting it under the window and then having to move the desk again to hang curtains or blinds, so I'll need to buy both first. OR, really just the blinds and the curtain rod. Okay, that makes it easier, because the toughest thing is going to be choosing the curtains. Fred Meyer even had some curtain rods that didn't suck. But I will have to traipse up to Home Depot after work (or possibly at lunch depending on how crazy tomorrow is, hmmm) to buy the blinds. I wish I'd thought of this earlier. I could have gotten that done yesterday afternoon. Mrrrrrh.

Realistically, I don't think I'll be able to set the furniture up in there until the weekend. Thus, perhaps I should just go to Fred Meyer after work, see if I can't find a nice curtain rod, so I can throw a sheet up or something for privacy, and just deal with the blinds on Friday, when I have the day off. Because, ack. I have to do my French homework tomorrow. Merde.

I can, in the interim, haul all of the boxes out into the hall, so I can start feeling out where I want to put the rest of the furniture in there. I could move the shelves back in there and start to unpack the books. So all is not lost, and it's not like progress isn't being made with the trim painted.

Okay, enough of a break. Time for paint coat number 1.

So tired. Am covered head to toe in paint. BUT. The office trim is done.

Well, I still have to touch up some areas with the blue paint, but that won't take very long. It looks so pretty with the white trim.

Hobbes was so funny. We've been living here for weeks, and I guess as much as I've obsessed about the office, I've largely ignored it. He was beyond fascinated today. You could hear little thought bubbles above his head:

- What's going on!
- Why are we in this room?
- Is something happening in here?
- Is there food?
- I will lie in here and keep you company because I think you might be up to something!

Silly kitty.

I can't believe it's only 11. I feel like it's 3AM.

Zzzzzz.
