You know, I forgot how incredibly tiring a full day of work can be. I've been a slacker for so long, it's definitely taking its toll to adjust. Don't get me wrong, I'm fucking grateful to have full time work again. Or is it just the training period, where you're not quite settled in, yet? I don't remember coming home this exhausted from the last places, but I also have a wildly short term memory. Yes, I wish it was as intellectually stimulating as my previous jobs, but this is fine. I'm lucky to work with such nice people.
Also, today there were muffins. Chocolate muffins. (BUT, I managed to stay on my diet and have lost 5lbs. 5lbs that I'd gained earlier, but at least progress is being made.)
But wow. Being away from the house for 12 hours at a stretch suddenly is a bit of a shock. I've been bored out of my mind for so long, but now I'm just tired all the time.
Next step, find mentally challenging work and climb on something resembling a career track.
Ellie took me out for lunch at Bonsai (the sushi-on-a-naked-lady place) and it was terrific. Really great value. We couldn't finish our food and I have rice and chicken curry waiting for lunch tomorrow.
Also looking forward to trying this soup place near my office. Apparently Bakeman's has the best turkey sandwich in the city, so can't wait to try that. Apparently he's like the Soup Nazi. (Note to self: Do not spend entire paycheck on lunches out. Tunafish = yay.) Sandwiches are only $3.50, though.
Met up with David after work at Elliot Bay to discuss relocation of bookclub and so got home late. I have no physical energy whatsoever. It's actually a little startling. I really just want to crawl into bed and go to sleep. And the whole getting dark at 4pm thing is so far from being okay.
