Jun. 23rd, 2005 11:02 pmToday was fucking spectacular! Day off! Slept in. Lounged around. Shopped!
My apartment is clean. And omfg I went insane at a 50% off sale at The Bon.
I now own the prettiest dress EVER. It's black. It's silk, but a very chiffon-y silk. And it's a wrap-around dress that has ruffle-y things that cascade down the front. Also, it declares loudly to the universe that I have boobs. I need to put a stitch in the deep-V because otherwise HELLO. It's just the right length. I wish it weren't sleeveless, but that's the only flaw.
It's very dressy! It's very grownup and very feminine and I admit, I kept twirling in it. I LOVE IT. And I don't have any other grown-up dresses, so I'll actually have something to wear at the next office party and not just look boring in slacks/shell/cardigan.
I also bought a fantastic denim jacket, a nicely tailored cream-colored jacket, that I'm not sure about yet. They're always putting people into Structured Jackets in What Not To Wear, and it really does look pretty good on. I also bought a clingy black top, track pants, and a heather-y blue top because I'm trying hard to branch out into colors.
It's exciting assembling a wardrobe. I've been weirdly monkish before this past year, to the annoyance of my friends. I no longer have a pair of jeans, a pair of khakis, 5 tee-shirts, and two pairs of shoes. It's very, very exciting.
I've wanted a denim jacket for the past many years, but they were either too short and boxy or too car-coat-y. This one is fucking perfect and I love it and may need to sleep with it tonight.
I need to find an event for the Black Dress. I will definitely be taking it to Vegas and unless I'm thrilled with the moose-dress, I will switch out of it immediately after the wedding for the reception. Because it is swanky and fucking exciting!
My hair has grown out from the hateful cut and I'm really liking it these days. It's a freaking mane. I think I'm going to grow it out long. Though I always say it, and get impatient with the in-between phase and chop it off. But I really want to try.
Sarah called after work and we met up for a bite. But first I dragged her inside and kept modeling clothing for her (she was, as ever, incredibly indulgent). She likes the cream coat, so I may keep it. I have to see if it goes well with the rest of my wardrobe. It looked weird with the khaki capris I had on while modeling.
pinkminx I hope you appreciate all the tarty clothing I've been buying to wear when you're out there because I think we're going to try to take you to exciting and wild places. And not just Barnes and Noble and coffee shops where I normally live!

Date: 2005-06-26 04:50 pm (UTC)I think you've planned things well enough to not feel the stress-monster roaring. Your family is so cool, you don't have that layer of hysteria knocking you over. You have a great group of friends who will support you. And, really, you've got the perfect guy for you (okay, starting to hate you now, so must wrap up).
The wedding is going to be a blast and I think you'll actually get to enjoy it and have fun with the rest of us! :)
Oh btw, that friend of Martin's who I sent the invite to, never responded. Is that good enough or do you want me to call them?
