Last Saturday, Stace emailed me, burbling about how it was too late now, but she just realized that Comic-Con was the following weekend, and obviously it was too late for me to come now.
I wrote her back and said: Dammit, it is too late.
And that was that. But Stace went ahead and bought herself a ticket. And then proceeded to be very cutely plead-y about my coming. So I thought, well. Why the fuck not?
I have a $300 voucher from Alaska. (I know, but $300 is $300). It's true that adorable
pinkminx is here, but her (and Sarah's) other friend is coming up, and I was more than likely going to let them scamper off and do things that young people do. So...why not. What's the point of having resources if you never use them?
Also, Stace kept mentioning that Nathan (*squee*!!) Fillion is going to be there. And omfg I worship him and the rest of the cast of Firefly. Not that I imagine I'd have anything intelligible to say to him. God, he's cute.
So. I thought about it. And somehow, I seem to be going now. It's insane. I leave for San Diego on Friday night. The best ticket I could get has me leaving at 9:15pm and getting into SD at midnight. It's going to be mighty interesting. I'm also taking my Firefly dvds so post-con, we can go back to Stace's and geek out watching the episodes.
Also, it'll be interesting to finally meet Terry Moore. And to see the Narnia Chronicles stuff.
And
merhawk and
desdenova will both be there, and it'll be awesome if we can hook up with them, too!
Huh. It all happened so fast. And it still seems impossible that I'll be in SD on Friday night. Though I am going to try to standby on an earlier flight.

Date: 2005-07-13 08:17 am (UTC)It would be insane not to go when you have the chance.
Comic-Con is one of the few reasons I would like to visit USA.
Some year, when I'm stinking rich, I will be there.
But I don't envy you at all. No, not one bit. **seething with envy**

Date: 2005-07-13 01:43 pm (UTC)Oh, and Fillion is really cute. And he's a true captain of the crew, whether it's on-screen or making sure everyone's comfortable up on stage. He seems tres cool.

Date: 2005-07-13 02:47 pm (UTC)Stace kept calling and saying, "You have to come! Karl Urban is going to be there!!" and I just caved.
Big, crowded events aren't generally my thing, but sometimes you've got to venture outside your comfort zone, right?

Date: 2005-07-13 02:51 pm (UTC)I've never considered going before, because I'm not particularly a con type. I like one or two comics. (Okay, maybe 4 or 5 now, thanks to Hawk and Pam.) I don't like crowded events. I'm not a gamer. I don't really watch anime.
I'm a dorkier breed of geek.
But it really should be fun!!

Date: 2005-07-13 02:57 pm (UTC)You've been so very good to me. (*proudly displays SiP tote, travel cup, and magnets*). It'll be so...surreal to finally meet Terry Moore, too!!
I agree with your assessment on Nathan Fillion. I was listening to the dvd commentary track of the pilot episode, and he is just freaking adorable and seems like a genuinely nice guy.
I feel like such a fangirl, but I can't believe I'm going to be in the same geographic area as he is! *bounce*
