I left work and made it promptly to my French lesson. It was, as always, a great time. My French instructor complimented me on my accent, so whee!

I stepped outside the building. It was a lovely Seattle night. I thought of the chores ahead of me. Grocery shopping. Returning frames. Boring dinner. So I did the responsible thing, I blew it all off and called Sarah. I figured, look--I still need to get to bed early, but I can have dinner with one of my best friends, right? RIGHT?

Sarah said she'd love to have dinner (yay!) and she was about 5minutes away on the bus. So I loitered outside my French teacher's building. Sarah called to ask where the fuck I was, I chirped at her until we made eye contact and I nearly dislocated my arm waving to her.

Enthusiasm, she rides me like a bitch.

So we went to one of our faves, 5 Spot. Because it's right *there* and it's always good. (Even when the service takes a dive, like tonight with Mr. Inattentive To All Frantic Arm-Waving). We chattered gleefully about the upcoming Sequim trip. We're both really just ready to go. Now. Not Friday. Now. But now can be Friday, okay? Okay. Good.

We were both in punchy silly moods. We decided we absolutely had to watch A League of Their Own (inspired because I've finally taught Jeff the value of saying, "There's no crying in baseball!") Food was had. It was exciting.

I learned today that my credit rating is Excellent. I didn't expect that. I can afford a much nicer place than I'd conservatively guesstimated and I'm slightly giddy and power-mad (but still needing to wait until other craziness is over, goddammit).

See, this is how it went down.

Sarah: Oooo, A League of their Own
Me: Oooo, love it. Need to buy!
Sarah: There is Blockbuster, like ...right there.
Me: You mean for rent?
Sarah: Uh huh.
Me: Tonight?
Sarah: Uh huh.
Me: *strident tone* I HAVE TO BE IN BED BY 10!
Sarah: Me too. I've been bad.
Me: *strident tone* I HAVE TO BE IN BED BY 10!
Sarah: It's a short movie. We'll make it.
Me: Okay! (Blithely ignoring the fact that it's like 8pm and we're still at 5 Spot).

It takes forever to find a movie.

Sarah: Dammit. I want to watch something. Tonight.
Me: *strident tone* I HAVE TO BE IN BED BY 10!

We walked up to Blockbuster, cracking each other up. Sarah and I have our own language. I think when other people see us, they think we're completely mental. We speak in half-quotes and in-jokes and are rather a pain in the ass to anyone listening. It's bad. If either one of us were outside observers to our own self, we'd hiss and run away. And I normally try to correct bad habits, but I can't help it. We share a very weird brain. So we swooped into Blockbuster and were generally obnoxious. BUT. BUT. BUT! They didn't have A League of their Own! Not even for sale! Wah! Wah!

So we traipsed around mocking various movies (with me shouting, stridently: "I HAVE TO BE IN BED BY 10!") until I said that we should rent My Cousin Vinny because it was funny. So we did and walked back to Sarah's where I shrieked and leapt 5 feet back when this giant flying leaf thing kept trying to attack me. Except it wasn't a leaf, it was alive and it was vile. I can't help the sounds I make when insects swarm, dammit!

Back to Sarah's. Armed with Reese's Pieces. I saw a book lying on her coffee table. It read, "Bad Cat." I squawked indignantly. Sarah said, "Oh! That's a present for you!" And it is seriously the most awesome fucking thing ever. It's a collection of cat photos and captions that are to DIE for. Seriously, if you are a cat lover, find this book and flip through it, and try not to die laughing.

We watched the movie. God, Marissa Tomei's hair was huge. Then it was over (at 10:30ish, ahem). I scooted out and hurried home to Hobbes and his metric ton of indignation at being fed late. (According to him, the dry food doesn't count.)

The whole drive home, I chastised myself: No email, no LJ, nothing. Feed the kitty and straight into bed with you!

So you can see, I'm obedient, non?

But I am going to bed. NOW. And I'll still be at work on time tomorrow. Tomorrow is Alexis day, but I'm going to have to buy cat food, litter, and return the frames, and buy Scrabble all tomorrow!

I hope everyone can see how this was all entirely Sarah's fault.
