First of all, because omg, I got a present in the mail from Amy, who is both fantastic and crazy!!

Amy sent me my favorite meal from my favorite Mexican food place. She and her wonderful husband packaged up an order of rice, an order of beans, and a carne asada quesadilla and carefully shipped it swaddled in an ice pack. My reward for getting through a crazy day was that meal waiting for me at the end of it. Amy--you rule! I ran to tell Jeff who was completely wow'd and said, "Damn, you have NICE friends... what're you doing with me again?" I told him I'd get back to him. Hee.

Today was much better. What a difference some sleep makes! I woke up pretty damn happy and set off for work. No complaints there, it was a good day and I made some solid progress on the manual I'm working on.

After work, I darted off to French. For the second week in a row I've lost my notebook. The first one is the worst, because it has all my details from all the lessons thus far. I really hope I find them.

Toward the end of the lesson I was hit by the most intense rag-attack ever. Happily I was able to nip off to my instructor's restroom to quietly bleed for a few minutes. Ugh. That was not fun. So, I wasn't thrilled to have Fred Meyer ahead of me. But really, there's no other time to do this without making Thursday a nightmare.

I'd organized my grocery list by store section (as opposed to 'think it, write it') and it made all the difference. There was no frantic running back-and-forth across the enormous store. And I actually found everything and hit a solid $20 below the amount I wanted to spend. I even got a new roasting pan! The biggest hassle was lugging everything upstairs. I left a few bags of non-perishables in the car. I fed Hobbes, put the dairy products away, and heated up the best rice/beans in the universe. I'd bought some guacamole and sour cream and the crunchy goodness of tortilla chips. God, that was good.

I should really have set the potatoes to boil right away, but I was tired and hungry. So I ate, and now they're boiling and I really should go make the squaw corn. It's a simple recipe, I'm just dreading the chopping of onions. I keep chanting that doing this stuff tonight and tomorrow night will make all the difference when I wake up Thursday morning and only have a few things to deal with. And I should go do that now so I can go to bed relatively early again. It'll take all of 15 minutes to prepare.

Also, what was kind of cool tonight, I came home and spoke entirely in French to Hobbsie. I don't think I'm confident enough to hold a conversation with anyone outside of my cat (well, and my French instructor), but I don't think I got much wrong, and it was kind of exciting!

So it was as good as it's supposed to be? Nothing too funky about it?
