Pride & Prejudice. Colin Firth. Heaven.

Was temporarily blinded by shallow lust for Clive Owen, Sean Bean and Karl Urban, but have sensibly returned to the true love of my life: Colin Firth. I simply cannot watch this mini series without salivating openly. Must fast forward through Mr. Collins though or will break things. Weirdly, something about David Bamber's face reminds me of Kim Cattrall. It is the most bizarre thing ever.

I am thinking disloyal thoughts of selling the vhs tapes I bought of all the Colin Firth movies (that I couldn't find available for rent or otherwise owned), because I can't imagine watching any of them over again.

Femme Fatale (vhs) weird
The Advocate (vhs) weirder
Apartment Zero (vhs) bizarre
Relative Values (dvd) enh

I almost feel I should watch them all again and give them a second chance. Then, half.com/ebay here they come.

Despite his excellent-as-always performances, none of them were movies I'd particularly want to see again. Just realized, peering at IMDB, that he plays Shakespeare in Blackadder Back and Forth. Must add that to Netflix queue immediately.

He's currently filming Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and here's a cute quote from an interview in Empire.

"You may have noticed I've lost my voice," Firth told Empire Online. "It's not puberty, it's actually because I was freezing cold; we end up in the water in that fight. I spent a couple of days in a very, very cold pond with Hugh Grant, which socially was pleasant enough but has left me a little worse for wear."

Edge of Reason should release in US November 18.

Also: Love, Actually dvd should be out in April, which isn't soon enough *whine*
