Yeah, there's really no motivation for getting to work anywhere near on time today.
Dinner at Crave last night was spectacular. I had the roasted vegetable soup with chicken sausage. Then the pan seared mahi-mahi with herb butter over butternut squash risotto. It was perfect. It's a tiny place and our insouciant waiter could have been friendlier, but the food was just amazing. I also had a bite of Chris's goat cheese gnocchi and that was excellent, too. We split the amazing pot de creme and this frozen chocolate banana terrine thing (neither of which we could force down the throat of SkinnyBrian, not for want of trying).
Then off we went to the Dina Martina Christmas show. Jeff had said it was hard to explain, and afterwards I had to agree. But it was fabulous. It's part drag show, part performance art, and it's hysterical.
Periiodically, Dina likes to come out into the audience and pass out gifts from a giant gift bag. Her second time out, she made a beeline for me. Eeek. She towered over me and lowered the microphone down and asked me my name. I squeaked it out, but she misheard it (um, somehow?) as Jinka. So she kept trilling it. "Jinka! What a pretty name, and SO ETHNIC!" She gave me wax lips and candy foam which she kept throatily insisting I shoot into my mouth. I didn't dare turn to look at Jeff, but I could hear him cackling with glee. I also saw the flash from Chris's camera (happily, it didn't turn out, no one needs to see how red my face can get). As she turned to leave, Brian simply put his arm around me in comfort. Hee. The next woman got hauled up on stage, so Brian whispered, "It could have been so, so much worse!"
Anyway, it was really a lot of fun. The CuteBoyBrigade drove me back to my car and waited through the longest traffic light ever for me to cross the street and get securely into my car. They're so adorable.
Oh fuckity. I should get dressed and haul myself in already. Mrh. MRH. MRRRRH.
Next year I am so taking this week off, because GODDAMMIT IT'S BORING!!!

Date: 2005-12-29 07:15 pm (UTC)Things could be worse. I coast in here late, dither about, and then leave early.
And they haven't, at least, turned the heat off here. Keep bundled up, you!!
