on tipping
Jan. 12th, 2006 08:00 amJeff and I were discussing how much, if any, tip should be given to the guys delivering my furniture. I had no idea. Jeff pointed out that they were going to be paid for delivering it, so a nominal tip was right. I thought $5 was too low, but my concern that $20 would be appropriate was wrong, too. And obviously, 15% of the furniture cost was out of the question. So I did a cursory look and here is (one of many, I'm sure) guides to tipping:

$10 seems reasonable to me. I just need to stop by and get some cash somewhere today on my way home.
I'm hoping these guys aren't going to be pissed that I want their help in moving this shelf. Or, rather, in flipping it. I've cleared most of the area, I just hope they're... um. Nice. And not cranky.
I'm anxious about my work meeting, so I'm up early. All dressed, cat fed, hair brushed—if still wet. And I think I will trundle into work early now.
