here comes the sun! oops...
Feb. 12th, 2004 12:30 amSomeone on
seattle posted that it was 60° and sunny out. I'd just gotten out of the shower, but frantically threw on some clothes, lunged for my sunglasses and ran out the door.
I'd almost made it to Greenlake when my brain engaged:
1. 5 o'clock traffic
2. sunset
Doh. So I cut back across 80th and went to pick up some groceries. I still got to wear my sunglasses for about 4 minutes, so that was damn exciting. And I recklessly left the house with no socks on! I figured 60° was fine for just a teeshirt and jeans, but had sensibly grabbed a hoodie nonetheless. And I'm sure no one needs this clarification, but yes, I was cold.
It's kind of pathetic that I would have no concept of outside weather (snow, rain, sun) without the internet and other people informing me (sometimes from other states, hi Sarah!). I had my blinds closed and squandered the afternoon waxing my legs. This? Was not fun. I swear, when I wake up tomorrow, I'm actually going to check the weather and if it's actually sunny and warm again, I'm heading out immediately.
My appetite has been utterly bizarre lately. Either I'm ravenous and have to bolt myself to the floor to avoid eating everything in sight, or I have a mini pita, some hummus and am full for the day. I think the ravenous days are when I forget to eat until late afternoon and then just don't want to stop and am so hypoglycemic that I don't want a salad, but an entire antelope.
*chants* Must. Eat. Breakfast. Must. Eat. Breakfast.
Why are roasted red potatoes with rosemary so insanely good? Quarter them. Salt/Pepper. Rosemary. Roast at 400 for like 20 minutes or so and they are bizarrely good.
In other news, I bought Hobbes some new senior-formula cat food and apparently he doesn't like it as much as the adult-formula he was getting. So now he meows all day and all night. I may have to kill him. I just bought a big ass bag of the senior food, and I swear he's had it before, so I'm utterly confused that he's not eating it much. Just picks at it and whines at me like I'm feeding him dog food or something. Now I'll have to go get the other cat food and do a half/half mix and see if that makes him happier. Which it damn well better.
