ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH.

I am so pissed at myself.

So I've been pretty good about not letting myself get spoiled for what's coming up on this show. But watching Nate fuck Maggie and then have what appears to be a stroke was just too much for me since the next disc hasn't shipped yet from Netflix and I went to Television Without Pity under the STUPIDSTUPIDSTUPID presumption that I would learn that this was just another fake-out thing.

And just as I was thinking, "Um, this is a bad idea. You can wait a day to find out that that self-absorbed asshole is fine," I glimpsed a tag line for the next episode which makes it clear that he's actually dead.

I can see what Jeff meant when he said that he has hated every single character at one point or another. I hate Nate so much. And I'm even pissed at David who I generally care for--what did he read a book called "How to be the Worst Parent and Partner EVER," or something? And speaking of partners I hate, I hated what Rico did and how he betrayed his family with that conniving stripper, but motherfuck Vanessa! If you're going to take someone back, don't bother unless you're actually planning on making a genuine attempt. GOD.

I can't believe Nate's dead. I can decide if I should just suffer the consequences and wait for the next disc, or now that I've blown it--if I should just go and read the recap.

Fuck. I can't believe I did that. Like 4 episodes from the end of the series.

Just wait til you finish them all. I think you'll forgive by then.

I didn't hate Nate so much when he got with Maggie, because Brenda was being a major twat (not that that excuses adultery, but she was).

God, I miss that show. I'm not ready to rewatch the series yet. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about the rest of them, though. Keep posting on it.

So we have to discuss now, because really? You thought Brenda sucked? I felt so bad for her during the whole last bunches of episodes. Which is funny, because I HATED her when the show started.

I did feel bad for her friend, because Brenda was clearly unable to talk about anything else, and no matter what major issue you're going through, you can't just monologue at your friends --so I thought it was cool when her friend blew up at her.

And I felt so bad for Nate when he was with Lisa. I thought he was doing the best he could with a bad situation. I even felt bad for Lisa though I found her annoying. So awful to be so in love with someone who...just isn't in love with you. I've been there and it's dreadful and soul-sucking.

I also, don't think so much of Maggie. I know she's lonely and sad, but fucking some guy who's married with a baby on the way is pretty low. And while she was obviously attracted to him, they didn't show a lot of whatever... reasons that she should be so in love with him as to want to do that. And Nate, clearly, was just looking for someone, anyone who wasn't his wife. Ooooooh, that made me so angry --watching him idealize Maggie over and over again. It was such a cowardly, shitty, escapist move as he apparently didn't want to deal with reality and Brenda.

Why do you think Brenda's so awful? I'm really curious! :) (sorry for the rant above!)

Hee hee... I don't think (and I don't think I SAID) Brenda SUCKED necessarily, but if I remember correctly (and I watched these when they aired so it's been a while) her character was really f-ing annoying at that point in the show. She was at the university, she wouldn't really TALK to Nate, she kept having these long discussions with her female coworker, who gets tired of her, too. And morality doesn't really apply to my TV character cheering... yes, adultery is BAD with a capital B, but I thought the Maggie character was cute in a way (though not really sketched out well enough at all). And Nate was happy around her. I think a lot of the Brenda/Nate relationship thrived on drama and sex. Once they settled into marriage they lacked propulsion sometimes (in real life this is fine, but on TV I want more). I think what Nate did with Maggie was in character with who Nate was - if you look back at his past relationships and all. He loved going after women who needed saving. At one point Brenda was a self-destructive person, so that fit in. As she developed it was only inevitable (in TV world where drama rules) that he be attracted to the little sad Maggie.

I felt bad for Lisa at times, too. Mostly after she was dead and spoke from the afterlife.

I'm not anti-Brenda at all. LOL... I know when I was watching the show I'd get really involved with it, but it's been a while now so I'm much more detached from it (and I'm sure I'm not remembering things). :)

I agree that she should have been talking to Nate (and good memory since these aired so long ago!) but I just feel bad for her, whereas I want to beat Nate with a tire iron.

I have to think now if my morality extends to tv character cheering. I think it does, though I'm sure there are cases where I could be proven wrong.

I'm definitely totally involved now, but in a few months it'll be all distant and fuzzy! :D

I felt bad for how she ended up taking care of Myah (spelling?) all the time while Nate was off being Nate.

We started Season 1 of Entourage last night and the HBO intro had shots from Six Feet Under and it immediately brought me back... I want to watch them again sometime. How long has it taken you? And how many episodes do you watch per week?

Yup, Maya. I thought Brenda really rose to the occasion there.

And I started watching it back in July. I really ripped through the seasons, though. I don't know about per week, because part of it's been limited by Netflix delivery and how busy I am on any given night, but like last night, I got home and watched about 3-4 episodes.

I think there are about 12-13 episodes per season, times 5 seasons (I've got about two episodes left now out of the 63 episodes) over about eight weeks? So about 6-8 a week?

I can't believe I only have a couple of episodes left. I was tempted to stay up last night but I was so tired. I'll be finishing the series tonight!

How is Entourage? I hear great things about it.

Entourage is great. We only started watching it this year (we're watching the current season and watching the old ones now at the same time... but continuity doesn't seem to be as important like it was with SFU). i was getting bogged down with the HBO dramas, like Deadwood... Entourage comes on right afterwards and it's always got some funny parts. I'm also a big big big fan of WEEDS - which I highly recommend on DVD (1st season... they're in the second season now).

I watch way too much TV. But then again, it's not TV - it's HBO.... ;)

I'm going to be Netflixing Weeds next!! Jeff really liked it, too!

And I love the HBO shows--Deadwood was awesome!

Deadwood is sooooo good. Right now it's making me so nervous, though!

And Jeff has great taste in TV! I love love love Weeds.

It's going to take a year, but I can't wait for Deadwood 3 to come out on DVD!
