My. God. I'm so full. I'm also very proud of myself. Why? Because I stopped after taking a relatively small portion of everything.
This is not so much from a diet perspective as an 'eating so much on a national holiday that you feel like you're going to die in a blaze of gastrointestinal explosion'
The food was amazing. Jeff is the freaking turkey-master. He makes a honey ginger glaze and somehow cooks it to exact moist perfection, without any bloody joints. Along with that, he makes amazing gravy. So that and mashed potatoes and Ellie's creamed spinach, and their special stuffing. Wow. I asked for a really small amount of John's mushroom soup and didn't eat the salad. Whew. I sat there, having finished my plate, thinking "Well, I should go up for more. I'm full, but not in pain." and I just sat there and the novel thought hit me: there doesn't have to be any pain. So I didn't go up for more. I'd also had a few of Judy's amazing spinach balls and her crispy lumpia (which is apparently a type of Filipino springroll).
Ellen was a sweetheart and made me a leftover plate, full of all the goodness of Thanksgiving, so actually, the joy will continue. I came home and gave Hobbsie a little bit of turkey to celebrate. I always feel so guilty charging off to have fun and leaving him home alone. He's a very happy kitty now, though.
It was nice to see Judy's parents again. I was worried they'd be unhappy I was there, butting into their family event (considering I was the bad influence on their good daughter back when we were teens:} ). But apparently that wasn't the case! I guess they realize I'm here to stay.
Mmm. Judy's off to Korea for a week to deal with her inlaw hell stuff. I can't believe it's the end of the year, already. Where did this year go?
Can't believe just 6 mos ago I was taking refresher ochem and planning med school apps. Life. Is. Weird.
