My biggest regret?

Not setting up a drinking game where every time someone says Maverick, you take a shot.

Palin, frankly, continued to horrify me. Her fanatical convictions and unblinking regurgitation of talking points seemed to evade all direct questions and led to inane blather about Small Town Wasilla and the Good Clean Fun represented by the Meth Addicts Who Live Therein.

I thought Biden did well. I appreciated that he stuck to policy issues and facts in his rebuttals. Though I could have done without the mutual masturbatory session they had on Israel.

Also, Palin can go fuck herself with her tentpole of fucking tolerance towards gays. They don't need to be fucking tolerated, you stupid vapid bitch. *seethe*

Outside of that, it was interesting to watch and I'm curious what the general reaction is.

[Note: This was supposed to have posted last night, but I think LJ crashed?]

I was sad to hear them agree that the government shouldn't sanction gay marriage but that, oh, otherwise, they can have rights. And I wanted to throw things at her when she refused to talk about McCain's deregulatory streak and didn't answer what they'd have to give up for the bailout bill. She certainly did better than those Couric interviews, but I don't think we should say that she won just because she didn't suck as much as we thought she might.

We're planning a work bar night with a drinking game for the next debate...you're welcome to join us if you like! :)

I was disappointed that she did better than expected. I was watching it in the background while I did dishes so missed quite a bit (which is probably a good thing since I would be angrier today otherwise...ignorance *is* bliss!)

I wish I could! :)

I think the perception that she did better than expected is sort of bs. She spoke with conviction and looked at the camera--while failing to respond to any of the actual questions!

And despite the spin that she did so much better than the interviews (which I guess is true according to one perspective) I don't think it changes anything about her overall image.

It really made me sad, too. How charitable of them all to concede that a gay person should be able to visit their partner in a hospital. Golf. Clap.

I agree--she just ignored that part, didn't she?

I totally agree with your conclusion.

I just worry because people will use the fact that she was able to speak with conviction while looking at the camera to say that is qualified. They miss the fact that she never actually answered the questions...apparently (based on half-hearted listening to coworker while I work) her camp is blaming her loss on the moderator.

People that like her will make excuses and point out how great she did...and could sway people who aren't paying attention..that's what worries me.

No--I think you're right, people will put that spin on it. I just think it's horseshit :)
