You know what's nice?

When you wake up, feeling not so good, with a weird headache, and you walk into your kitchen to find an adorable Jeff who has cleaned your messy kitchen and upon hearing that you're not feeling well, gives you a big warm bear hug. That's really, really nice.

Makes it much easier to face the day, that's for sure.

I think I'm coming down with a little something. Ache-y. Headaches. Sneezes and coughs. Nothing extreme, happily. But it's enough to keep me feeling a little rundown. I went to bed super early last night, which felt glorious. Of course, I was feeling well enough to go out and buy some Frangelico to make a brioche bread pudding. (I'm going to try to snap a photo tonight; Pete's coming over for dinner.) I need to calm down on the cooking. Our fridge is about to explode, and neither one of us eats (or should be eating) enough to keep up. I have to dole things out more. Portions of the bread pudding have been promised to a number of friends, at least.

For dinner tonight, it's going to be simple. I really like the tomato basil pasta sauce from Cook's Illustrated. We have leftover pesto from the weekend, so it'll be pasta two-ways. And Jeff is going to try to make this very cool artichoke dish.

We're going to watch the debates and I'm going to try to not hiss and claw at the screen every time McCain comes on. With the new smear campaign against Obama, I am thoroughly disgusted with McCain and have lost every drop of respect I've ever held for him. He should be deeply, deeply ashamed of himself.

Work is busy, but still good. Fall is officially here, and I need to reorg my wardrobe because it's time to bring out the sweaters and coats. And I totally forgot to buy some firewood last night. I think it's time to have a roaring fire with some hot apple cider.

My bedroom has gotten a little crazy messy, so my goal for Wednesday night is to make some attempt to clean things up. I've promised myself it doesn't have to be perfect, but to just make some tiny start. Here's hoping!

Life, at this moment, is pretty good.

I was wondering about that. I mean you often mention that you have guests or take things with you on visits but it still seemed like a lot of food.
I'm always close to volunteer to sacrifice myself when it comes to the desserts. But always sadly realising that it would be a futile offer. :)

I do usually make things and then immediately give them away, so it's not usually a problem! And now that we've had a friend for dinner, most of it is cleared out because I gave him some to take home and I'm taking some for friends at work today!

And if only you didn't live so far away, I would be happy to give you some! :)
