Every morning I need to hear NPR talk about "President-Elect Obama" to persuade me that it wasn't all just something I dreamed up.
Seriously. It seems like something I would have dreamed up: history imitates the last season of the West Wing, only better: the suave, telegenic, well-spoken, young (& incidentally nonwhite) presidential candidate sweeps the popular & electoral votes & carries Congress on his coattails. And on election night crowds surge through the streets of Seattle not to protest (as on so many other historical moments during the past decade) but celebrate and ... sing the national anthem ...?
Ditto to everything you just said. I went back to work yesterday and two coworkers said they expected to see me bouncing on my heels with excitement, and wondered if I was okay. I told them that I'm still in shock and I can't quite believe it. I want to ask random strangers in the grocery store and the post office, "Did that really happen? Did you see what I saw??"
President Obama. I will never get tired of hearing that.
