life is so good
Apr. 11th, 2004 07:00 pmWoke up and scooted over to U Village to meet
drexeldeb for brunch. I can't remember the name of the Italian place we went to, but it starts with a P, has some Ts and Is in it. Anyhow. Great spinach salad. Had a lovely time waxing philosophical with Debbie and enjoying the sunshine. I'm not quite over the excitement of being able to wander out without socks. My inner hippie is doing the dance of joy.
Called
jeff_nw to plan the rest of the afternoon. We decided a hike around Discovery Park fit the bill and he was nice enough to come pick me up and drive us out to Magnolia. It's funny how Seattle has brought out this newfound love of nature in me. I'm very much a city cat and hiking has largely been reserved for that walk from parking lot to the store. But something about a gorgeous Seattle day insists that you head out and soak up the sun. It was a lovely hike. My first time out to Discovery Park and it was everything Jeff had promised. Beautiful wooded trails, cliffs overlooking Puget Sound. We didn't make it down to the beach today, but wandered happily for a couple of hours. We took some pictures with his new digital camera, but only after Jeff swore up and down that my new haircut was NOT a mullet. Hey,
merhawk, pick your jaw up off the floor. Me. Hiking. Without a gun to my head. Can you believe it?
Hungry afterwards, we set out for Ray's Boathouse. The cafe upstairs is more affordable than their restaurant and just as tasty. We split an ahi tuna salad, some curried shrimp and inhaled our diet cokes. As always, wonderful, varied conversation. Aren't you all sick of hearing how cool Jeff is? Well, neeener. HE IS!!
It was just a perfect day. Now I'm home and should work on my Information Plan (as Jeff is probably diligently doing). Homework is not exciting, but I think I'm going to suck it up and do it without complaint (or without much complaint at least). Feeling too content with the world to kick up a fuss.
Ooo first a shower, though, cause am doubtlessly smelly.
