OMFG I'm so glad my Catholic upbringing wasn't as extreme as that!

I thought the part about limiting the use of female altar servers was really fucked up because I used to be one. When I was in 5th grade, I signed up for altar server training, took the exam and got 100%, which is more than I can say for the slacker boys who were in the class with me.

What the hell is so wrong with female altar servers? They're up there on the altar being subservient! Why wouldn't they want the acolytes to be female?

I totally hear you. I'm glad my family is middle of the road in their religious fervor. Yay for moderation.

And I guess as far as religion is concerned, ultimately our place is at home, breeding new believers.

Yes, I had to wear a white little frocky-thing. It went down to my ankles, tied at the waist with a rope, and it had a hood! When nobody official was looking, we used to pull the hoods up over our heads and pretend to be little grim reapers. Fond memories.
