verbicide: (me and hobbsie)

Am a bit apprehensive about leaving Hobbsie alone for even a short trip. From Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon/night. What if it ends up baking in here? I'm going to leave a window cracked, the fan on and extra food/water out. But is that enough? Ellie's going to be out of town, so she can't watch out for him. In fact, I'm dog sitting for her at either end of my own trip--Friday before I leave and Sunday when I'm back in town. She can't leave a window cracked at her ground level house and is afraid the doggies will suffer for it.

Maybe I'll leave my keys with Judy and she can check on him if the heat gets really bad. She'll be up in this area on Saturday afternoon.

Hobbsie hates the heat. We're similar in that regard. Hot weather makes us both lethargic and thick-witted. Judy flourishes in the sun. She prances about with GLEE. Whereas I hiss at the light and try to hide in the shade. She spent the entire day yesterday trilling that it wasn't as bad as our summer at UCLA where the daily average was 110. Bleh. You'd think with my brown skin crisping to mahogany, I'd have better tolerance for it. But even when Amy and I were in Kaua'i, she could outlast me any day in the sun, the sun that turned her lobster red. I get bored and headache-y lying out. It's too bright and hot to be able to read. The sun bearing down directly feels oppressive. I would flee for the water every 15 minutes and end up wrinkled like a prune.

This is reason #928495 why frequently overcast Seattle is the best place for me.
