Just got off the phone with my cousin Kiki. She and Mish (her sister) are going on a 17 day tour of Europe this August. They're going to London, Paris, Venice, Rome, and Dusseldorf. I am so fucking excited for them!! I think this is the first time they get to travel someplace fun without their parents. My little babies are all grown up. *sniffle* Very hard to not treat them like the 8 year old kittens I see them as.
It reminds me of my own trip to Europe which was (holyshit!!) over ten years ago.
Summer of 1989.
England: London, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford (yay for British Museum; yay for RSC production of Cymbeline)
France: Paris (met cute Italian waiter, Tony, who drove us everywhere, yay)
Germany: Munich, Nuremberg (Dachau first stop, bleh; not so much with the caring)
Austria: Salzburg (yay Sound of Music everywhere and very green and pretty)
Belgium: Bruges (quaint and wonderful)
Switzerland: Zermatt (fell in love with bartender Hans at The Brown Cow bar, was drunk pretty much always)
Denmark: Copenhagen (Tivoli Gardens, very nice, but brief stop)
Italy: Florence, Rome (yay for shopping, yay museums; didn't make it to the Vatican; skirt fell off in middle of street, oops)
Greece: Athens, Mykonos (cool to see Acropolis, but god what a filthy city; paradise and kayaking in the Mediterranean)
Of course I was a wobbly 17 year old and had the IQ of a cheeseplant. Wish very much to go back again now as sensible adult (hah!). Dying to go to Prague. Once I get that career track job with paid vacations again (*swoon*), I think for my first vacation, I'm going to travel to someplace in Europe.
I have no idea when that will be, or what
brabble will be doing, but have decided she will have to come with me.
Now it's past 6:30pm and I want food but have none in house. Brh. Must venture out to grocery store. Wah.
