So exhausted. Had to ferry across to Port Orchard waaaaaaay too early this morning in order to spend some time with the folks. Sammy, OB's dog, has taken to resting her face right next to my foot. So every time I shifted my foot, I would kick her in the face. NOT HARD. But she would sit up and look at me. And OB kept intoning her thoughts for me, "Why did you kick me? What'd I do to you? Now I am a sad doggie." Hobbes is always underfoot but I guess we've gotten so used to each other's movements that unless he's trying to punish me by diving between my feet when I walk in his diabolical attempts to knock me on my ass, that never really happens. It was nice spending some time with Em and we've agreed to set up a lunch/knitting shopping date soon. Eventually I set out for Auburn to meet Judy, John, and Jeanne for concert-y goodness at White River Amphitheatre. It's a nice open-air venue and I would like to add that the bathrooms are actually efficient. John and I went to pee during a break and he took one look at the line of 9million women and snerked that he wasn't going to wait for me, but would meet me back at our seats. However, the line moved surprisingly quick. My bladder would like to thank the sanitary engineers responsible.

Barenaked Ladies were adorable beyond all words. I can now understand the whole groupie phenomenon. However, I can proudly say I refrained from hurling myself at Ed Robertson, shrieking 'Shag me! Shag me!' Not only can they sing, and not only are they adorable, but they're so funny and cute and you can't freaking stop smiling at them because they're clearly having an awesome time up there.

I was a little disappointed with Alanis Morissette's performance. Maybe I was tired or something by then, but I hate it when the music blares out the vocals. She mostly sang from Jagged Little Pill, and somewhat selfishly that was okay with me because I haven't heard her new stuff and fucking love that album. I also thought Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was a so-so album and was glad to not hear that damn "Thank U" [sic--*hiss*] song.

Her haircut, however, is freaking adorable. In general I like performances that are less...something. After every single song she shouted out, "THANK YOU SO MUCH" in the same exact tone, and then introduce another band member. Not that it wasn't nice to be thanked for our applause, but it was ...I don't know. By the third exact same THANKYOUSOMUCH I was mildly annoyed. I really wanted to like her performance, but it seemed a bit pretentious. Her movements were very MTV and less genuinely enthusiastic. Especially after the frisky antics of Bnl. Ah well. Also, I was tired and needing a nap so maybe it was just me. I do like her voice and now have to dig out my Jagged Little Pill cd and listen to it obsessively.

I miss Port Orchard. Patrick's sister was the previous owner of the record store/coffee place downtown, and we used to visit a couple of times a year. But she and her husband and daughter moved to friggin' Pennsylvania, so no more trips to Port Orchard.

I love Barenaked Ladies, too. Never seen them live. Jealous.

What a bummer. Port Orchard is such a cute area, though I really haven't had much of a chance to hang out in its downtown area. Mostly I go over to my brother's house for bbqs.

You simply have to see BNL. I know you'd LOVE them. Next time they play Portland, you gotta go!
