It's funny. Whenever I finally decide to get my haircut, it starts looking good to everyone. But it's just a vicious trick my hair plays. If I decided against getting it cut, it would go back to looking like crap. Also, I was developing neck strain from carrying the bulk around.

I had such a weird time at Gene Juarez downtown last time, that I decided to try Habitude. Ellie gets her hair cut there and always looks amazing. And my leg waxing experiences at Habitude have been lovely. Except for the part with the excrutiating pain.

So I had an 11 o'clock with an adorable Italian guy named Mauro. He was so fucking cute, it was ridiculous. Oh but wait. First! While I was waiting for him to finish up with his last client, I ran into Megan! I love Megan! I hadn't seen her in ages because she's been traveling a lot this summer. She's ready to burst at 7mos pregnancy, but looked wonderful. She re-invited me to send her husband my resume, so I'm going to do that. Must work all possible contacts.

Then Mauro came and we discussed The Plan. Half an inch off the bottom and soft layers throughout for a less weighty, sleeker look. Well, AMEN.

An hour later, I had what he promised. The only thing I wish I'd stressed more was to preserve as much length as possible. I think he ended up taking an inch or so off the bottom to even out the layers and Greg might possibly cry because he prefers my hair as long, lush, and cavewoman-y as possible. It grows really fast, though, so it'll be back to it's standard unruly state in no time. I'm also mixed about the ends. I did like how the bottom of my hair looked, variated lengths and curly. This is almost a blunt cut, and while I feel more professional and together, it's less, well, me. If I had to do it over, I would have asked him to preserve the general shape and wave of my hair.

But it'll be fun for now, and there are so many layers that all the bulk is gone.

I'm going to meet Jeanne for dinner, so I don't want to do my standard "wash and see what it looks like without product and flat-ironing" thing, but I'm very curious to see what it'll look like not so otter-sleek.

It kind of reminds me of Dido's from her concert! It's very swingy!

Oui!

And btw, I love the "before" picture! I mean, of course I love the "after" pic, but the first one just cracks me up. Your expression just screams that you've had enough of your mop and that it's time for a change.

I might be at the warehouse on Tuesday, but are you free later in the afternoon?

Of course, now it's cut... I sort of miss my long hair. It'll grow back fast, though.

And yes--definitely free later on in the afternoon!
