how cuteness can getcha outta trouble
Aug. 30th, 2004 12:08 pmApparently I need to guard my kitchen when Greg is here.
Devin is due to come over for a visit with us, and since she has limited time, I figured I would make us lunch instead of going out. I decided to make Chicken Enchiladas--one of my favorite recipes and a frequent request from friends. It's easy and obscenely tasty.
Rushed around to assemble the enchiladas before work, so they'd be ready when Devin got here.
I shredded the chicken and mixed the sauce in and set it aside while I logged into work, figuring I'd come back in a bit to roll the enchiladas. I was annoyed with myself because the package of chicken only had two breasts instead of the required four, but this recipe makes a lot and halving it wouldn't be an issue. I finally wandered back to the kitchen and made the enchiladas. I was confused because it didn't make as many as I thought it would. You can see where this is going, right?
Anyhow, finished putting it together, and stuck it in the fridge.
Greg, very cutely, came into my room and asked if he could consume my bag of Baked Cooler Ranch Doritos. I told him he could eat whatever he wanted. I didn't realize he was going to take this quite so literally. The little monkey snuck into the kitchen and ate a buncha the shredded chicken in enchilada sauce!! I had no idea.
As I assemble the enchiladas in a state of bewilderment because they normally yield so much more. He looked about 11 years old when he said, "I'm sorry. I just couldn't stop eating it." Of course he gets points for confessing, because I never would have figured it out. Mostly because he's diabolical and actually piled the chicken up in the bowl so it wouldn't be as obvious. Sheesh.
I was still reeling from this when he said. "Oh. Um. I also ate half your box of Snackwell's cookies."
Glad I went grocery shopping and stocked up *dry*
