Just got back from driving Sarah to the airport. I think this is the first visit of hers where I haven't come home from SeaTac all wistful and sad. Why? Because this time it won't be 6mos before I see her again. It'll be a scant three weeks. Let the good times roll!

Had a scary moment on the way back. As I pulled into my driveway, I saw a pedestrian coming close to crossing my path. He was pretty far away, so I pulled into my driveway. He was a rather scary looking creature. He paused in the middle of the driveway and stared at me. I thought maybe he was angry that I hadn't stopped--but he was more than a reasonable distance away. Anyhow, I quickly shut the garage door behind me and he moved on. I walked to the hallway door, turned the key and there he was. I managed to not shriek, but gasped pretty openly. He started at me creepily for a minute and said he was sorry to have startled me, but did I just drive into the driveway. Um, yes. I braced myself for him to scream at me. But he didn't--just said he thought my car was his friend's car.

Then, with every self-defense book screaming NO in my ear, I got into the elevator and held my breath until he got off a couple of floors before me. Ultimately not as melodramatic as it sounds, but gah he was scary.

And here's something happier. Sarah snapped some obscenely cute pictures of Hobbes and a really nice one of the Japanese Gardens yesterday.

We had set out early yesterday to sign Sarah's lease. Decision finalized, deposit paid, and lo there was much joy. Decided to head to U Village for breakfast (Atlas. Bacon. Mmmmm.) and then to the Japanese Gardens. That sufficiently wore us out so we decided to sack out at my place with junk food, LoTR and Trivial Pursuit.

Hobbes decided he wanted to play, too.

Then Hobbes decided to help me with my knitting. Yes, it's very rainbow-brite-y, but it's what my little cousin wanted.

And here is a pretty picture Sarah took of the Japanese Gardens. I love it there. So peaceful and pretty.

Fire bad, tree pretty.

And another shot. Nice, huh?

My knees? Swollen and stabbing like a mofo. All the aerobics and my laziness about taking ibuprofen caught up this morning in a miserable way. Ouch. Ouch. OUCH. Must find ice pack now. Mowr.

And Judy, if you're reading this--yes, I'm going back to bed. But feel free to wake me up any time after 10! Can't wait to catch up with you and Ellie.
