Lord of the Ring: Return of the King: Extended Edition
Dragon*Con 2004: TORn Staff Previews ROTK Extended Edition. They note:
"SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers related to the content in the 50 minutes of footage added to the theatrical version. If you want to be surprised when you insert that first disc into your DVD player, READ NO FURTHER!"
[Thanks to
rimrunner for the link]
"Eomer finds Theoden dead on the battlefield, then finds the wounded Eowyn. He is overcome with grief."
This was probably my biggest beef with RoTK. Having seen this scene played out in preview after preview, I was bracing myself through half the movie, ready to burst into tears at the sight of Eomer keening on the Pelennor Fields. I felt absolutely robbed that this wasn't part of the theatre release. Maybe it seems like an insignificant piece, but it was one of the most moving images from the previews for me.
Along with the lack of closure with the Saruman/Grima plotline and Witch King/Gandalf battle--I was mostly annoyed that they alluded to it in the theatre release when they'd cut the actual battle. It seemed unacceptably sloppy to me.
I'm concerned that they don't list the House of Healing and explanation of the Eowyn and Faramir plotline. But we'll see.
Seriously. Can't. Wait.

I take it you're not scampering back to TC for turkey?
I promise you, if you stay out here, there will be turkey goodness.
