I have the randomest urge to watch 101 Dalmatians.

In exciting news, I have a new washer/dryer. I can't wait to try it out!! Marie, my landlady came up this afternoon with two lovely handymen. They hauled away my old unit and I was orgasmic because we didn't have to disassemble and move my desk. Marie and I started to sweep up all the lint from the floor, when I asked if I could take a look in the vent because I wanted to make sure it didn't have heaps of lint stuffed in it.

Well, something was in it, because we couldn't see any light (and it's a particularly short vent hose because there's maybe foot between it and the outside. What did we find? An actual bird's nest. I have no idea how the bird crammed it in there, as in the narrow circular opening, there's some coiled wire--there particularly to discourage birds from flying into the dryer vent. Marie was able to remove it intact and ran off with it to show her kids. There was only one egg in it, a hollow feeling, cold one.

This proves Greg's theory that the chittering noises I was hearing for ages was birds (and not all the rats of Nimh). This was probably also one of the reasons my clothing was taking 4 cycles to dry.

We cleaned it all up and Wally and Cory came back with a nice new unit for and I have big plans for laundry today. Woo hoo.

Stacey called me from the intermission of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels--the play! The group is prepping for Broadway and she says they are amazing. Her face was aching from nonstop grinning. She demanded that Judy and I fly down to San Diego immediately because we simply have to see it.

Had a wonderful brunch with Judy. We haven't had some time alone for awhile, so it was nice to catch up. Last night's show was fun. I really hadn't wanted to go, but knew it would be good for me to get out and not brood at home.

I found my way to Graceland easily enough, but I had to park far away and as I walked alone through the valley of the shadow of death, I nearly stumbled over a homeless guy sleeping along the wall. It startled me, and I'm sure him.

107 Eastlake is a scary, scary building. I have no idea what it is. But it bears the sign of Graceland above it, so I cautiously worked my way up the stairs, trying to find the club. Called Judy and John who were just finishing up dinner and on their way over. Coming to the obvious conclusion that I was in the wrong place, I headed down the stairs and up the street and found the club next door.

I have no idea how Graceland hasn't been shut down due to massive lawsuits. Or maybe we're just really old. It was pitch dark and they had uneven stairs up to the seating area. None of us were injured, mostly because we clutched the side of things and moved cautiously, but someone to the right of us took a fall that sounded painful. A little reflective tape on those stairs would go a long way. God. I sound old.

Dudley Manlove Quartet were amazing as always. My legs are still sore from dancing and jumping up and down. Bjorn Again... was um. Interesting. Normally I love it when people go all out and are totally into what they're doing, but they were a little too gimmicky. They're an Abba cover band that is um pretending to be Abba. They have the white satin outfits going, the hair, the blue eyeshadow. And that's all fine. But they just went too far with it. They did that thing where they want the audience to participate and so each woman took a half of the room and kept demanding that HER side of the room was better. Fine fine. But they did this for like a year. Bored now. I will say that the brunette woman was stunningly beautiful, so at least there was eyecandy and a little lust.

We left early, sad that DMQ had only been the opening act. I'm really hoping to catch their Halloween show. They are fucking awesome. I love them.

This is what utterly freaks me out about home ownership. I like that I can just call my manager and she deals with the problem. And it costs me nothing.

Of course I'm just throwing money away every month in rent, but it's just one less hassle in my life.
