I don't know how revealing this will be because I babble so much, and often about personal things. But it's fun anyway.
5 things you may not know about my time in school:
1. On my first day of school, I insisted to my teacher and fellow students that I was from a different Planet. Planet Pakistan.
2. I had a 4.0 my hardest semester in undergrad.
3. I went to extra labs every weekend for no-credit in my anatomy class because I enjoyed dissection so much.
4. I started out as an English major and was in the running for scholastic awards when I switched to hard sciences.
5. My poetry for a creative writing class freaked my teacher out so much that it netted me a visit to the guidance counselor and a phone call to my father (who was very cute and pretended not to be panicked, but clearly was.) For the record, I wasn't suicidal. We'd just covered that topic in training for the Crisis Hotline I volunteered for. When I gave my teacher shit about it later, he defensively squawked, "Well I don't know. You wear black all the time. You never speak. Then you read that! What was I supposed to think!!"
5 things you may not know about the jobs I have had:
1. I briefly telemarketed for H&R Block, offering a free seminar on tax breaks. Blech.
2. I worked part-time in college doing hardware installations/repairs on PCs.
3. I worked as a receptionist for a large medical corporation and learned that there were horrors beyond technical support.
4. I was paid $2K for a website that never launched because the person in charge of the project couldn't come up with content.
5. I was almost fired from my first post-college job after two weeks for being stupid and taking the flexible scheduling a little too literally. I shaped up pretty fast.
5 things you may not know about my on-line life:
1. Everything I know about netiquette, I learned from the fine folks at rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan.
2. I met one of my best friends (
brabble) through an email list.
3. Everything I know about computers was taught to me by a wonderful IRC friend in Georgia.
4. My first web page had a pink background, kittens and half a dozen animated gifs. I am deeply ashamed.
5. I met two of my boyfriends through the net.
5 things you may not know about where I live:
1. It doesn't rain as much as people think. (Just 38in (97cm) per year)
2. It isn't as racially diverse as you would expect from a liberal, hip, urbane town.
3. Before the Europeans, it was home to the Duwamish, a generally peaceable tribe.
4. You can hike wilderness trails within the city.
5. Early Seattle was peopled mainly by bachelors until one of the founding fathers went back east on a mission to induce young unmarried women to come to Seattle.
5 things you may not know about my personality:
1. I'm painfully shy.
2. I'm uncharacteristically patient with certain people/situations.
3. I care too much what other people think.
4. I can be coldly practical.
5. I have a weird fondness for cranky people.
5 things you may not know I would really like to have:
1. My own published novel.
2. An Audi Roadster.
3. A digital camera.
4. A nicer wardrobe.
5. A German Shepard.
