It's been a lot of days of sitting around watching tv and being mellow. So I had hoped for a nice day out today because I figured I could tempt
brabble into a short hike. But it was rainy and gloomy. So I got out some knitting and quilting and figured it would be a craft-y day.
[11:55] cat: i was hoping for a miracle nice day and to tempt you into a hike at discovery park
[11:55] cat: but it's pretty sprinkly out there
[11:55] sarah: OO HIKE
[11:55] sarah: hrm.
[11:55] cat: wouldn't that be nice?
[11:55] cat: something outdoorsy and fun
[11:55] sarah: aren't we supposed to be badass since we live here?
[11:55] cat: yes we ARE
[11:56] cat: i have a rain coat
[11:56] cat: you have a rain coat
[11:56] sarah: uh huh
[11:56] cat: *shares that valuable info*
[11:56] sarah: *PSA* hee
[11:56] cat: wanna say FUCK THE RAIN
[11:56] cat: and do it anyway? *grin*
[11:56] sarah: actually yes :)
[11:56] cat: awesome!
It was really a great idea. Sarah came over, we drove to Paseo to pick up some Midnight Cuban sandwiches (fucking amazing), packed some water and hit the Loop Trail.
It was wonderful. It never really rained particularly hard, and the weather meant it was largely uncrowded except for a few determined joggers. We hiked around, cooing at trees. Sarah would point out an insect, I would jump in startled horror. Good times.
On the way back to the parking lot, I tackled Sarah. Can I say how awesome it is having her here? Before, we would both whine at each other across AIM about how we were bored out of our skulls and wanting to do something fun.
Nature love is a new thing for me, still. I feel like a four year old out there. Excited, nervous (especially on any declining hill), and delighted. My admiration for trees no longer consigned to postcards and picture books. My goal is to do BWCA with Sarah before I die. She's going to help me practice, practice, practice for it. Okay. Not just before I die. Before I'm 40, ok?
In other news, my main PC blew a gasket. The motherboard is tragically fried. I feel so...helpless...without my PC. Everything's on there. Finances, music, documentation. Everything. But happily I've gotten hold of one I want in LA and my darling dad is overnighting it and some new DDR ram (since my SDRAM is outta date for new boards, grr). Hopefully things will be up and running by the end of tomorrow. I'm writing this from Sarah's. Both of us needed to get out of soggy, muddy pants so we stopped here first.
Next stop, my place. We're heading to KC and Jen's to watch the Debates. Beer will be consumed. Along with these wonton crispy things I'm making. Should be a fun night. I need the mental distraction.
