Apropos of nothing, I have "Santa, baby" in my head.

I've also resolved to finally get off my ass about the free ipod thing. We really wants one. But omfg the price tag on that thing is OFFENSIVE. So I'm not going to post the link thing because I'm sure everyone is sick to death of seeing them, but just wanted to bitch about it.

I signed up for dvds and cds today under webmail accounts and need those to clear. Really irritated about how limited the selections were at Columbia House. BMG had a huge range of things you could select. They had a few items locked off for Member's Only, but it was hard to find 5 things I actually wanted from Columbia House. Brh. Now I'll just need one more offer completed. I have no idea how fast they send them out. Or if they really do. Though Sarah knows someone who actually got one. I know. It sounds suspect.

But $400!! For a little music thing! It's a fucking outrage. *hates Apple*

But it doesn't stop me from wanting one, does it.

The Curmudgeon Weighs In.

The last "portable music device" I bought was a Walkman. In 1986. For $35.

I guess I just don't feel the need to have "tune-age" piped into my head 24-7 everywhere I go. In fact I'd be happy if there was a lot less music being played in the world, since it's almost impossible to find any public space anymore that isn't blessed with piped-in music. I enjoy being alone with just my own thoughts from time to time.

I definitely don't walk around with my own soundtrack or anything, but it's very nice to have music when you work out. It just isn't worth $400 for that.

I was surprised to find that I didn't want to listen to music on the bus, because it was a nice time to, as you said, be alone with my thoughts.

I was desperate for an iPod a month ago, after saying, "no, I can live without one" and pooh-poohing my friend [Unknown site tag] who is an iPod maniac. I signed up for the free iPod thing, too, and signed up for the Columbia House DVD club... which is insane since I have no job, but I figure the contract isn't so bad, and I did get a few movies I wanted in that first batch.

My parents ended up surprising me with a mini iPod this Christmas... so all of my free iPod hijinx were for naught. I think the hard part of that whole thing is getting five other people to buy into it.

LOL. I should, too! I took the link to mine off of my LJ user info page, but might put it back up. If I DID get it, I think I'd keep it... it has more storage than the iPod mini. Not that I have that many songs yet, but you never know!

That's a really nice present :)

And yeah, I basically just did most of the offers myself with a flurry of free webmail accounts. But it's a pain.
