Timing sucks, sucks, sucks.
So just as I left LA, my nephews arrived (with my brother and sis-in-law). I missed four days of hanging with A and A and frolicking in the snow up at Big Bear, etc. I had a blast with Stace, but wish the timing could have been better.
Now I find out that my entire family will be in Oakland, for a cousin's 50th wedding anniversary, and more importantly, darling A's 4th birthday. I can't go for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly, Sarah's much awaited trip falls over that exact time period. Which, I wouldn't change for anything as I only get to see her once/twice a year if I'm lucky. Also, even if that weren't planned, Ellie's out of town and everyone else lives too far away to sit for Hobbes. I'm on backup call for Ellie's dogs now that Hans is house-sitting and am committed to helping out two days that would also fall during that time period.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
Both of these were no-win situations, and I don't think anything could have been done to better prepare for them. It's just that I miss my nephews so damn much, and I hear the little one has started talking now and runs about and I haven't seen him since he'd just turned 1 and I just want to see them NOW.
Must plan a trip down there soon. Nothing else to it.
And must stop whining about it, because nothing can be done.
Today will be fun. Going to see Lost in Translation with Judy and John. Will start cleaning flat today and will not sit immobile in front of telly for 16 hours like yesterday.
