I can't believe it's January 2nd already. Yesterday passed so quickly in a daze of television and quietude.

I woke up from the first set of new-job nightmares. I always have performance-anxiety and I had a very detailed dream about my first day of work at my new company. And it was random. It started today, Saturday. And I hadn't enough time to prepare. I was supposed to read the instructions for configuring and using Eudora. So I sat in this room, with everyone else, reading this manual with tiny print. Half the day went by and my boss came to talk to me. Turns out, I'd wasted the day. She'd only wanted me to data-entry the manual into RoboHelp. She wasn't mean about it, but I felt so stupid.

Also, the day had started with Jeff showing me to the bathroom in this labyrinth of cubicles and then he vanished for the rest of the day, but the pregnant woman from my current job showed up because she was also hired.

Dreams are weird.

Today was lovely, except for the part where I got hurt.

Woke up early and watched more episodes of Lost until Jeff called. We agreed to meet for lunch and a jaunt around Greenlake. Been desperately trying to get back into shape and figured it would be criminal to waste a day as pretty as this one.

So Jeff came over, we hung out, we went to lunch at a cute little taco stand. We stopped back at my place when I realized that walking outdoors meant I was going to be freezing, so I hurled on lots of extra layers.

Off to Greenlake. It was a beautiful crisp day and I attempted some really demented shots with my new camera (most of the bottom of Jeff's head and the top of my own, they're fabulous and if I can ever get them off the camera and onto the computer I will share them). Towards the end, I managed a remarkably graceful tumble, face first onto the dirt path. I was lucky that my jeans saved me from all but a bit of cheese-grated calf and a minor scrape on my palm. But I did manage to twist my ankle instead of just fall like a klutz. So I sat there for a few minutes trying to look brave as Jeff very kindly took care of me. Eventually I got up and hobbled to a bench. When my leg stopped actively shaking, I said I was fine and we walked on. It hurt, but it wasn't unbearable and I agreed with Jeff's assessment that walking would help keep it from stiffening up.

We finished our walk and got some ice cream and walked back to Jeff's truck. Drove home and hung out some more and sadly, Jeff eventually had to leave. He is so adorable.

My ankle really does hurt though and I'm annoyed with it. I'm a bit apprehensive about driving on it (I love my manual car except in hideous traffic and when I hurt my left leg) tomorrow. I have a lot of errands planned for tomorrow and I'm hoping ice, ibuprofen and determination will make it okay by tomorrow.

Sarah's supposed to come over tonight for blended goodness and hanging out. Tomorrow I will hopefully: get my haircut, pick out new frames for my glasses and also go to Bellevue for this treatment thing that I get.

Ankle has swollen up. A fact I was able to largely ignore for awhile by not taking off my sock and looking at it. Whine.

Sarah came over; we watched West Wing - Season One and drank blended things. Sarah was very nice and crushed up some ice into an ice pack for me when my make-shift broccoli thing completely smushed up and went warm.

But it still hurts and I can't find an ace bandage and I'm really mad because I had a lot of errands to run tomorrow. Not to mention starting up aerobics again as of this Tuesday which now may not happen. I'm nervous I won't be able to drive my stick-shift and I've got to get to Bellevue. I'm sure I'll figure it out, and obviously my life won't end if I have to cancel my appt there, but the timing was perfect with the day off and just argggh.

After sitting around with it elevated and iced and taking ibuprofen, I expected it to be better. But it really hurt to stand up and hobble around on it again. Arrrrrrrrrrgh. So frustrating. I'm nervous that it will stiffen up over night and be even more uncooperative tomorrow morning.

What's the fastest way to heal a sprained ankle?
