What a great week.

LA was fantastic. As much as I hate the city itself, being home among all the cousins was fabulous. Spent most of my days (post work) lazing around with Mo, watching 5th season X-Files and eating way too much of my mother's cooking. The cousinpack would stay overnight and I woke up every morning gasping for breath under a dogpile. They are so freaking adorable. Especially my favorite, our youngest cousin Z. Didn't find the lost 6th Season DVDs at home, nor my rain coat. Le Grrr.

Dad took us all out to Medieval Times, where I'd never gone. It's freaking expensive, so I felt a bit startled when he invited everyone to a belated birthday dinner for me. He loves dinner shows, and it really was a blast. It really got us all fired up for RotK with its medieval finery and swords and horses and hot men in armor.

Caught up with Hawk over a quick dinner and bookshopping trip (where she twisted my arm into buying even more books that I can pile next to my bed), got my hair chopped off (while not a devastating cut, makes my head looks too erm fluffy or something, I think--but it'll grow out fast enough), finally renewed my license (could the DMV possibly suck any more? No, I didn't think so). No time to get my teeth cleaned, so need to make an appointment up here. Bought new jeans and a black turtleneck.

Saw RotK. Big review to come when I have the energy.

On the one hand it didn't seem like enough time, on the other hand, it's so nice to be back in my own space. I missed Hobbes. I missed my bed, my things and the normalcy (er, or whatever approximates for it) of my life.

Terrible timing, because just as I left, J and his family, including my adorable nephews are coming to town. Wah! I would have loved to stay through this weekend and have spent time with them. I think they're planning on celebrating A's birthday a bit early this year with the grandparents. But, my plans unfortunately couldn't be changed, because:

Stace met me at Sea-Tac on Friday and we idled over coffee, waiting for Judy to pick us up after work. Dinner at El Gallito where we all strained ourselves trying not to spoil RotK for Stace, nearly bursting with the effort.

We stayed up late watching Whale Rider, which was an amazing movie and we kept making inane LotR comparisons. Saturday brunch, yarn shopping and waiting 3 hours in line for RotK at Cinerama. So ecstatic to finally have Stace see it and say up late discussing all the fine details of it.

Went to bed way too late, and got up this morning to hustle to the shops so Stace could buy RotK soundtrack immediately. Met Judy and Ellie for lunch at Cheesecake Factory and shopped around. Stace and Judy impulsively bought me Trivial Pursuit: The Lord of the Rings Special Trilogy Edition, despite all my startled protests. Sucked about the timing, as immediately after shopping I had to drive her to the airport. If we'd only found it last night.

After all the company and excitement and fun and downright giddy joy, I feel so quiet and... flat now. Trying to catch up with emails and LJ communities and feeling a bit discombobulated.

But not in a bad way. Hmm.

Chinese food is on the order, got some Cary Grant flicks on my desk. Think I'll settle into the quiet peacefully and work on my knitting. Must finish Stace's xmas gifts before Wednesday so Ellie can take them down to LA with her. Ack and bake cookies for x-mas boxes. Urgh Urgh. Ok. Will deal with all this tomorrow.
