I'm slightly hysterical at the idea of being a mathematical genius.

Your IQ Is 125

Your Logical Intelligence is Above Average
Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius
Your Mathematical Intelligence is Genius
Your General Knowledge is Exceptional

Normally these tests claim I'm borderline retarded.

I should take it. Then I can throw a fit again when it tells me that I am Forrest Gump's mental twin.

(...)

Actually, I took it and I got exactly the same thing you did. Hilarious. Yay for not getting "you are borderline retarded" for once.

For what it's worth, I thought of you. Because I know we both generally suck at these tests.

Isn't it exciting to be a genius for a change? :)

I think they cheated anyway -- one of the logic question is actually invalid because none of the answers are logically correct.

Shh. Let us have our fun! :)

I'm all for fun. Just pointing out your score probably should have been even higher, given that one was a trick question.

Oh! Well, see, that would have been a logical conclusion, and logic isn't my strong suit :)

That's probably for the best. Logic is not a survival trait these days. Take someone like me -- if someone says "Love is a flower that smells baaaad." to me, I'm apt to stare at them in confusion while the light on my chest blinks on and off and smoke comes out of my ears.

That's an adorable cat, by the way.

I thought "Love [was] a dog from hell" ? At least according to Charles Bukowski :)

That's an adorable cat, by the way.

Thanks! He's as good-natured as he is good looking.

Conversely-wise, "Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come." -- Matt Groening

My cat means to be good-natured, but insists on a lot of food to keep her so.

That is a fantastic quote.

And true, Hobbes is less good-natured at 6am when his stomach wakes up.

I've always been fond of it. An appropriate warning for both frozen tundras and ice weasels. Mmmm, ice weasels...

Ah, it really makes me miss the Life/Love/Work is Hell series I once owned. No idea where it is now.

I always kind of wanted to read those, never got around to it.

They were hilarious when I read them back in high school. But it's been so long, I have no idea how good they really were.

I was reminded earlier today of how scary and erratic our (pre-)adolescent tastes can be, specifically stuff like the Choose Your Own Adventure Books. I liked them so much as a kid, and now they seem like poorly written fluff. Of course it's easy to get a case of pococurantism these days. Even the crap of today tends to be of a much higher quality than some of the stuff we loved as kids.

Of course, a lot of stuff also holds up amazingly well (e.g. Looney Tunes), so it's also entirely possibly that * Is Hell will hold up well.

I loved those things. Haven't picked them up in decades and um, don't think I ought to. They can stay preserved in my memories :)

And Looney Tunes really has stood the test of time, hasn't it?

Also: you have a nice collection of icons, but I think this one is my favorite :) What a beautiful cat.

Which cat? The one on the left is Sadie, my polydactyl maniac. The one on the right is the Tiger I got when I bought a copy of OS X Tiger. I wasn't sure this one would work out at 100x100 pixels; I'm glad you like it. I recently upgraded, so now I've got lots of space for more icons. I've been trying to make icons from my own pictures (or at least stuff I have explicit permission for, but I've weakened on that.

And yes, Looney Tunes have held up extraordinarily well. I haven't asked a modern child about them, but I was amazed when I was a kid to kind out they were already decades old.

As much as I love tigers, I was referring to Sadie.

I never remember to vary my icons in comments until it's too late. (Or, like now, I'm writing directly from my email.)

Modern kids love Looney Tunes. At least my little cousins do.

I use Lynx a lot of the time, so I don't get to see what other people are using for icons or images.

I have a picture of myself with a real tiger somewhere. But it's all blurry and polaroidy.

My little nieces like the spongy cubical pants. It's crazy. Of course, that's actually a pretty good show, but I could understand parents that would crack after having to watch it for hours on end.

(OK, I was tempted into taking some icons I didn't make myself. Curses.)

I use Lynx from work sometimes, but I have to admit it's pretty rare.

Awwwww, you got to pet a real tiger? That is, like, my mission in life. How cool--where did you find the opportunity?

Sadly, I didn't actually get to pet him. It was a baby tiger at the circus -- they let people take pictures but no petting. Alas.

That is a bummer. But still, very very cool that you got a picture with one :)
