So I shouldn't just sit around. I mean, not that I don't love sitting around. But I don't want to waste the joy of the day off. So things I should do:
- go to post office
- pick up filing cabinet because rubber bands are no longer de rigueur for bill stubs
- stop by the Bon for wedding shoes and to look at cute swishy dresses
- stop by Nordstrom in search of the perfect bra to wear under the moose-dress
- grocery shop, and for more than diet pepsi
- public market because I feel like filling the house with flowers
Though really, I think I'll go to Nordstrom on Friday because I'll be done with work and don't want to come home and then turn around to go see Margaret Cho. So I can fill my time with that. Makes it all much easier, since I need to be back by 5pm to let Maribel in.
It would be a lot easier if I just gave her a key. But I feel awfully squeamish about it. Not because I think she's going to break into my place and rob me blind. But what if she loses it. Somehow I feel more comfortable just letting her in, running out to do errands, and coming back to a sparkly house.
She's been enormously flexible, and has even picked up/dropped-off the keys at my job. I mean, she's trustworthy. I know two other families who she cleans for, and they have given her their keys.
As a single person, I just feel very protective of my space.
So um. How about some feedback, you brilliant friend's-listers, you?

Date: 2005-06-24 12:42 am (UTC)I considered hiring a cleaning person, but I couldn't get past the "strange person in my house and touching my stuff" issue.

Date: 2005-06-24 05:22 am (UTC)I was here the whole time and doing my own rearranging, so it didn't bother me so much.
Now she just comes and does the things I really, really hate. Like floors. And the bathroom/kitchen. My place never gets really dirty, just cluttery from time to time.
And I feel somewhat sheepish about hiring someone to do my dirty work, but it really makes me so happy. It's wonderful!

Date: 2005-06-24 03:28 pm (UTC)Most of the time, my favorite cheese is roquefort. Creamy pungent very "bleu" cheese. Though damn near any cheese eaten in France will be the huge winner in my book. Why do all their cheeses taste so much better than ours???

Date: 2005-06-24 03:32 pm (UTC)And I'm not sure why their cheeses have to be so much better, but they really are. I love all bleu cheeses. Can't believe I hated them as a kid!
