So I think it's clear I am addicted to caffeine. I hadn't had any yesterday. Splitting headache. Coffee=headachegone. Haven't had any today. Creeping headache. Grrr.

It's too late to have anything now, but I've got to figure out some sort of weaning off process.

Am annoyed with myself because I know the QFC near me has limited stock and know I should drive the extra 15 blocks or so to Safeway, which has everything, but then I get lazy and just go to QFC because it's so close.

Ahh fuckity. Just realized that I forgot some of the items on my list. Was going to try this hearty vegetarian chili thing, but it will have to wait for another day. I think spicy vegetable juice is just a fancy name for v-8 or something, right? Oh bugger and forgot the beans for that, too. I apparently was distracted by the random screaming man who came in 2 minutes after me.

I think I'm going to crawl into bed early and read Sandman.

Welcome to the Caffeine is Our God-land.
Exactly 12:17 pm my head will explode without a cup of coffee of a bottle of coke.
So young. So far gone.

I hear ya. In college, I swilled diet pepsi like there was no tomorrow. I don't think I drink that much of it now but the addiction remains. Brh.

A marvellous invention

I know this is going to come off as snarky, but:

There's this really nifty way to prevent oneself from forgetting stuff at the grocery store: write it all down on a piece of paper or in your PDA. This revolutionary technique is called a "grocery list." I don't use it all the time, but it's very helpful when I'm cooking something specific & I want to remember all the ingredients...

As for the caffeine: don't go cold turkey, it's painful. I've done it, and it sucks. Try switching to half regular-half decaf if you want to cut down.

Nothing wrong with a little snark

List. Yes, you'd think that wouldn't you? What you don't know is that this has been sort of an evolution for me. I used to not take a list, relying on memory. When that failed, I would write out a careful list and leave it on my desk.

Now, I did take a list, but I also had just torn the recipe for the chili out and brought it along and for some reason after I'd got all the vegetables and spices, I tucked it away. I apparently decided I'd gotten everything off the page.

And I wasn't actually even trying to cut down. I go through phases where I drink heaps of diet pepsi. Then I go through days where I just either run out and haven't bought more or just don't want any. I don't generally require any coffee to start my day, which is why this caught me off guard. And I don't remember any punishing headaches before, so this is either coincidence or I've managed to lose brain cells in just the right areas so I don't remember the blinding headaches.

mmm, coffee

Kiddo, strange but I made this caffeine realization myself (ok, I had help from M.E.)just yesterday. Instead of 3 pots, I only had 3 mugs and 2 headaches. I will keep you posted as to my sucesses and failures on this road. Why do I feel there are more than 12 steps?

There may be 12 steps, but they're awfully long steps.

I'm largely bemused, I think, because I'm not a 'stumbling around in fog until first cup of java' type. (I mean, I stumble around in the morning because I hate mornings, not due to chemical dependency).

I also almost always want diet pepsi at 11:30pm. It's always a burning, fervent desire that I have to sit on myself to refrain from (and oftentimes fail to accomplish).

I still haven't had any caffeine today, and there is a bit of a headache, but I'm trying to ignore it. Largely because I left the case of dp in the car and can't be arsed to go get it just yet. It's cold out there.

Grazie for the picture. Love it!

I see your story--if you mean the next post in your journal, but how does it correspond to the picture, or any picture? Outside of the picture I have in my head of you roaring at the bloke on the other end of the phone?
