Well, I suppose it should come as no great shock that I'm not the only one in Washington suddenly wanting ground turkey/chicken. Not only was QFC out, Safeway was out, too. I bemusedly asked the guy behind the butcher counter about it and he told me they'd recently had a 'buy one get one free' thing and were completely sold out. Meh.
Continued experimentation with caffeine/headaches: have bought one grande non-fat latte with a shot of sugar-free vanilla (yes, yes, I'm one of those people) and have not taken any advil, motrin or similar and will see if headache goes away. It's not an unbearable one today, just a dull throbbing.
Trying to work up a good attitude about tonight's class. It's entirely possible she just sucks at administrative things and will not bore the shit out of us tonight. Jan is surely a tough act to follow, but I really don't want to dread my Tuesday nights. Not to mention the small detail of my actually wanting to learn this stuff properly.
And dammit, my right rear turn-signal light is out. Damn car is fizzing out lights one by bleeding one. But I don't want to replace them all at once because: 1. I'm poor and thus cheap and 2. I don't want to replace something that's not used up but 3. Reserve the right to bitch about it nonetheless.
And poor Hobbsie. His cortisone shot is wearing off. I hate making this decision. He has asthma and periodically needs a shot. But too many shots are not good for him, so I'm trying to balance out when to take him in. He's just started coughing/wheezing now, but it's maybe a wheeze a week. So that's not sufficient to rush him to the clinic. It's so godawful to hear him and it makes me feel a bit like Pet Satan.
Viactiv Calcium Supplement - so much better than those godawful Calcium pills. Tastes like chewy candy, various flavors (I've tried chocolate mint and strawberry cream). They offer a free sample on their website. Recommended to me by my friend, Dr. Stacey.
Advantage Flea Control for Cats - when we lived in LA, there was apparently some flea problem. So Hobbes, who has never had fleas, suddenly developed a problem. It's hard to get rid of those suckers, too. My vet in LA recommended this topical treatment, where they squirt this tiny amount of clear liquid on the back of the cat's (or dog) neck --aiming for skin and not fur-- and through the normal musculature movements of the animal, it eventually coats their entire body with a fine grain sand. Fleas ingest the stuff and die. It's effective for about 3 months. (works best, I think if you also fleabomb your house). Hobbes is happily, once again flea-free (and was even before we moved to Seattle). There doesn't seem to be an Advantage website but googling provided lots of places to buy (and of course, one's local vet is a good source).

I'm working on cutting back, hence the profusion of cranial trauma.
