1. When running late to work, it is not helpful to hide your keys. Putting them, for example, in your purse before you leave the house will only lead to frantic hunting and hyperventilation.

2. Audio CDs that have automatic browser-installing, video-installing crap on them are INFURIATING. I want to listen to the fucking CD. If I wish to have it dance the tarantella, I will inform it otherwise. Hiss.

3. I have a tummy ache.

4. I got to spend some time with the handsome lawyer upstairs. He makes me all a-flutter.

I almost didn't buy the new Springsteen album because of the "enhanced" DVD/CD combo thing I'd heard it hyped as. I was only interested in the music. However, I broke down when I was able to get it below half price, and I do love the music. (And all I ever did with it was rip it and play it with iTunes or my iPod.)

I hope your tummy feels better.

I really want an iPod :)

Speaking of CDs, I was really pissed off because the new Rob Thomas CD won't play on a lot of CD-ROMs as part of an anti-piracy thing. Which means I can't play it on my home pc.

It was more annoying than anything else, as there are always ways around that kind of thing. But as I bought the CD legally, I should be able to play it in any CD player.

Yeah, copy protection that prevents play of legally purchased material is a real hoisting everyone on your petard trick. It sucks.

On the other hand, iPods rule. If only the battery lasted longer. I guess the new models are supposed to last longer.

I'm going to have to get me one of them. Do you have the 4, 6 or 20gb model?

Oh, the 40 gb. I actually had a 20gb mp3 player which I got back when it was half the price and four times the storage of an iPod. I just waited for the 40gb model to drop in price, which it has now done again(!) but now I'd be tempted to get the 60gb just so i could fit all my audio assets on there. (I'm not sure there is a 60gb, but I wish they'd've done that before color screens.)

You know, as I wrote out my list, I thought, "there's a 40gb, one, too, right?" and then didn't write it.

The thing that's largely held me back from buying one has been the price. Not so much that I can't afford it, which I happily can, but I think they're priced so outrageously that it makes me somewhat irrationally mad.

When they finally dropped the 4gb ones down to like $200, I almost bought one. But then ...it's only 4gb! So I've been in this constant push-pull internal debate about it.

Don't do it!

By the price you cite, it looks like you're looking at the iPod minis. ($200 for 4gb, $250 for 6gb) But! The regular iPod prices have dropped ($300 for 20gb, and $400 for 60gb -- grr) So, if you were looking for something really small and convenient, I'd recommend the iPod Shuffle ($130 for 1gb), but if you're looking for bang for your buck, I've definitely vote for the regular iPod.

(If you want a used 20gb Creative Jukebox, I'm sure that could be arranged, too.)

That's exactly right. I have trouble justifying the $300 price for the 20gb. And I think the mini is cuter (to be girly about it).

And it's a slippery slope of ...$200 is an okay price. But oh look for $50 more I could get 2 more gb. But for only another $50 I could get 14 more gb!! But, if I'm spending that much, I may as well shell out just another $100 to get 3x the space!

And then I get mad and don't buy any of them. :)

And thank you for that incredibly generous offer. But I actually have a puny 125mb Creative Nomad and it's serving me pretty well. Which is another reason I haven't bought an iPod. I haven't really needed one yet!

Yeah, I'm all too familiar with the slippery slope. Generally I prefer to buy the best deal I can afford, because I'm more likely to get upset that I don't have enough room, etc., than about having spent a little too much. Of course, then they just upgrade, and I get to gnash my teeth about the 60gb I missed out on because I bought too soon. Too soon.

I totally agree. I try to buy on the high-end, but not the cutting edge, because I don't want to get entirely screwed. And I think for me, it's still too soon to buy the damn iPod. Eventually the prices will come down to the point where I think they're fair.

Or when I just can't take it anymore! :)

Sorry: sounds like you were having a bit of a frustrating day (apart from the audience with the lawyer ...). I can relate to the keys thing: I'm like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man when it comes to stuff like that--my keys must be replaced on the hook by the door as soon as I step inside, or desperate confusion will inevitably follow when I need them again.

I swear, I'd forget my own first name if people didn't remind me of it, every day ... ;)

I'm the same way. The keys are on a hook by the door. And I religiously put them there to avoid mornings like this. But I grabbed them in my hands and remembered I needed to get something else.

Why I shoved them into my purse will remain a mystery to me :)

Keeps life interesting, I suppose!
