avoidance-motivated, anxious rambling

Okay, my life is insane. Too many things going on all at the same time. I'm going to go BOOM any minute now.
I took the day off work today so
pinkminx and I could get some quality time in. We stayed up late talking about feminism & pornography, education systems, and other people's breasts. I got drunk off two sips of Mike's Hard Lemonade. It was impressive. We went to bed late, but my irritating internal clock still bolted me upright at 8 AM. Bah!
I let the Finnish Invasion sleep a bit longer, and Jeff called. Why? Because he is hilarious. He called to say if he couldn't sleep in, I couldn't sleep in. So we jabbered about cycling. I'm dragging him out with me because dear god I need all the practice I can get.
I ran to the grocery store for ingredients to the Best Recipe's meatloaf. Which, OMFG. More on that in a sec. I came home to a freshly showered
pinkminx and we took off to meet Jeff for lunch. Because everyone wants to meet Jeff. Because he is beyond adorable. We had lunch at that spectacular Greek place with bad service. Their chicken souvlaki is ... there really aren't any words. It's just incredible.
Après lunch,
pinkminx and I came home to pant at Alan Rickman in Robin Hood (and boo and hiss at stupid Kevin Costner). I put the meatloaf together because I didn't want to cook after working out. The only fuckup was that I accidentally bought ground thyme when I couldn't find my jar of thyme leaves, which remains mysteriously vanished. And I omitted the bacon slices on top because as much as I love bacon, I figured I was already compromising by not using 99% fat-free turkey, eggbeaters, and nonfat milk. Though I would like to try a variation with those components, keeping the saltines, parsley, sautéed onions and garlic. And the brown-sugar, ketchup glaze. Because motherfucker that was good.
Just as the loaf's internal temperature reached 160, I pulled it out to cool and we hustled to meet Sarah downtown and then I busted my ass getting back to Fremont to meet Alexis. We trained. There was sweat and pain. And it was good. I rushed home to shower and call my parents who are visiting my nephews in Oakland.
Sarah and The Finnish Invasion came over. We had meatloaf and broccoli and French bread. There was much joy. The meatloaf came out perfectly, if I do say so myself. I need to use this cookbook more. Cause it's really that good. There will be meatloaf sandwiches tomorrow. Which is the only thing keeping me from cramming it all into my maw tonight.
After dinner, we collapsed on my bed to watch Russell Peters, who still makes me laugh so hard I cry. We had peach sorbet and watched weird things on the internet. I managed to clean the kitchen. But I still haven't managed to pack. Because OMFG I leave for San Diego post-work tomorrow. I need to be all set by tomorrow morning. And I should have been in bed an hour ago. But instead I'm here, endlessly prattling on LJ.
Hawk called from Comic-Con and it was so great to hear her voice. It made me very hyper about this trip. It'll be nice to finally see her again, even though a Con isn't the best place to play catch-up. She's grabbing some limited Terry Moore goodness for me, because she is a lovely, lovely person!
I also desperately need a filing cabinet so I can organize my stuff in a human way. I need to return shoes to Nordstrom that I'm never going to wear and a jacket to the Bon that I've decided I don't like. I have no idea when any of these things are going to happen. Because omfg so much stuff going on. And I need to plan more trips to visit more people that I've neglected this past year.
This weekend I'm out of town. Will have busy work week. Then next weekend we're going to try to hit Vancouver and Portland in the same crazed weekend. And then it's the last weekend in July. Training is crammed into every inch of my life where I can get it.
Things to dotonightnow.

Pack: (Though I'm having some sort of weird wardrobe crisis where I want to be comfortable but also look 500000lbs lighter because if I manage to wear the right slimming blouse, Nathan Fillion will hurl himself at my feet and ask me to marry him. Sigh. If only.)
Jeans
Skirt
Shirts
Sandals
Underwear
Swimsuit
PJs
Toiletries bag
PDA
headphones

cell phone charger
I may have to do laundry so my favorite track pants are clean. I need to change into them for the airport because it's a long flight and I want to be comfy, dammit.
I need to put another e-book on my PDA.
I need to pack my Comic-Con registration bar-code thingie.
I need to pack my airline ticket.
What else? What else?
I need to cut my fingernails because they're getting too long and will tear off on something and cause me great pain. Shit. Need to start laundry.
Firefly makes me wish I knew how to swear in Chinese.
OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO FINISH PACKING TONIGHT *runs around*
I really hate packing.
I am so not going to be alive at work tomorrow.
I took the day off work today so

Date: 2005-07-15 08:23 pm (UTC)I will eat carrot and broccoli now -- in fact, my stir fry from the other night had a lot of carrots in it (next time, though, I slice them thinner).

Date: 2005-07-15 08:42 pm (UTC)Sauteed spinach and garlic is really great, too. Summer always makes me more willing to each veggies.
Agree with you about the slicing carrots thinner. I don't care for raw carrots, but when they're cooked, they're fantastic! Especially in stirfry.
